No good. They temper with the meter readings, no way you can find out. Maybe already set it to times 1.2x your usual consumption level. How would you know without the traditional meter readout? Just a black box nia. Unless you've got an instrument to calibrate it on the spot.
Even if the meter is accurate, the numbers could be bumped up later on the computers processing the data. You'll never know when there's a fraud or error, discrepancies.

For those with ami meters, do you check your consumption via the sp app vs what the retailer bill you? Do they ever tally ? Lol

my area was upgraded to the new smart ami meters in april this year.

i do not use the sp app because details like hourly usage are not important and of no interest to me.

when i receive my bill every month, i just take a few seconds to see the meter outside my door. the kwh number is shown on the LCD display.

almost 7 months now, nothing unusual in my data. my bill shows the meter reading and it matches what i see on the meter.

it has been nearly 7 months now, i do not see anything of the sort you said.

there is a LCD display showing the kwh number.

when i receive my bill, i take a quick look at the LCD display to check.

my retailer bill shows the meter reading charged to me, and it matches the LCD display outside my house.

one more thing to add, some people here says the old analog meters are not accurate ( probably meaning it overcharges them ). some people here says the new smart ami meters are very accurate.

my 7 months of data shows nothing unusual. my kwh number is consistent with my very old analog meter.

Geneco deals nowadays lousy and very dishonest and bad customer service. When sign up for recurring credit card rebate, to enjoy it, card need to be successfully charged a certain amount. They will either play around with your first bill cycle or play around with your sign up rebate or referral rebate, so that your credit card wont be charged that minimum amount to qualify for the credit card rebate within that short limited timeline or limited number of redemptions. When email Geneco customer service or call up, they cannot really be bothered and say their finance team is in charge of this, they cannot interfere. Email energy market authority, they say its their private affair, company promotion, so wont interfere even though they playing around with the billing to manipulate rebate awarding Got price guarantee but somehow not the cheapest fixed rate. Maybe i didnt read the terms and conditions properly.

At least unionpower rebate is awarded upon successful onboarding, not awarded when a certain amount of charge is charged to the credit card, then play around with bill cycle and other sign up rebates to knock off the charge so wont receive credit card rebate. If you have many referral rebate from geneco or sign up bonus, very low chance to get the credit card rebate especially when bill cycle manipulation kicks in too. It will only activate after all the other rebates are used finished in a small time line or limited redemption.

can you explain where is your data that shows SP have been overcharging you by 30% over several decades ?

some months back, a forumer here made an excellent chart based on data from 2009-2017. please see this post : https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/120693455-post7695.html

from 2nd quarter 2009 to - 2nd quarter 2012, wholesale rate (=USEP+vesting contract charges+transmission charges+recurring market charges) were most of the time higher than SP's tariffs. if open electricity market was implemented during that period, none of the present retailers would be able to offer any products to sell to us.

from 4th quarter 2012 onwards, USEP started to fall and widened its gap relative to SP tariffs. and the reason was because massive generation capacity from various gencos started to come onto the scene.

from 4th quarter 2015 to now, USEP hovers around near rock bottom levels, such that wholesale rate would be probably around 30-35% below SP tariff.
all the gencos started to suffer massive losses because the SP tariff rate is a very close reflection of the cost of electricity production. hyflux closed shop, and recently the japanese-owned senoko energy talking about borrowing money to sustain their business.

and from 4th quarter 2018, OEM started, and all retailers barked about 30% savings below SP tariffs. so, your "30% more, over several decades" is actually 2016,2017,2018, ie three years.

after nearly 1 year of OEM, and with so much good rebates and rewards to switch to a retailer, 60% of households still quite happy with the 30% "overcharging" by SP.

the excellent chart above shows that wholesale price is a function of (generation capacity vs demand) & oil price. in the past several decades, have we seen generation capacity exceeding demand by 2 times ?, which is the present case ?

in the next few years when gencos start to retire their older generators and total capacity comes down versus demand, and depending on market conditions and oil prices, it is not unthinkable we may need to switch back to SP tariffs.

Suggest you stay put and take their renewal bonus. Although there might be some better deals out there, it is not worth the effort to switch again. Only 3 retailers use SP integrated billing, so if you switch to one without, you might have another separate bill to pay.

The discount wise, I personally feel not much of a big difference.
