Expect a lot of complaints. But users on SPWS should also be aware of the risks of price fluctuations when they signed up
Plus those who signed SPWS are aware that it's a no-contract plan. Anytime not comfortable, can back out.

those who is awaiting transfer to new OEM

during the wait time can they switch to SP RT?
No. Once you apply to switch to OEM and application approved shouldn’t switch to RT already. You want to switch back to RT first then switch to OEM.

yes but today is like whole day....and x10~x15.
Instead of paying $200, become 2k+ for electricity......... lol

but come to think of it, if everyone switch back to RT....then SPWS should be cheaper.
SPWS tied very closely to USEP. So if USEP high, SPWS also high

just treat it as a lesson learnt.

It's no different from stock market. Make bang when market is good (USEP at $0.05/kWh), cut losses when market nosedives (USEP consistently >$0.30/kWh). People who signed for SPWS should be roughly aware of the mechanics at play and the bill shock possibility is always there.

Dear valued customers,
Over the past 6 years, iSwitch Energy has had the privilege of serving the Singapore Electricity Market and collectively saving consumers over $150m on their energy bills against the SP Tariff. We have also helped maintain focus on sustainability and the green goals that we know are so important to all of you.
Unfortunately, due to current electricity market conditions, we will be ceasing our electricity retail operations on 11 Nov 2021.
Your electricity account will be under iSwitch Energy from now till 11 Nov 2021 and transferred to SP Group with effect from 12 Nov 2021.
We are currently working with EMA and SP Group to ensure a smooth transfer of all our existing customers to SP Group. We also wish to assure you that your electricity supply will not be affected.
Thank you for being a customer of iSwitch.
Kind regards,
Team iSwitch

Lol. At this moment, looks like there's several generator units from different electricity generators report major equipment outage. It is so coincidental all the gencos experiencing unplanned outage.. so coincidental that they all offer spot wholesale much higher price

Do you have a feed/news source to see which gencos are reporting their planned/unplanned maintenance, outage and faults?

It's one thing to have the resource costs be high (LNG market, fuel market etc.), but the recent trend of spot prices being incredibly high at off-peak and low forecasted demand periods does raise eyebrows as you previously alluded to.

Timing it right, the gencos can hedge tactically with their futures, and at the same time, kill off the non-gencos (sayonara Ohm) while cutting their losses as those on <19c/kWh eventually recontract to >20c/kWh. Really is huat to the moon :s13:

If the market keeps going at $3/kWh as it has done these few days, just watch as all the gencos ask EMA for bail out after the non-gencos exit OEM. Just limpeh speculating ah :s13:

Its just too much of a concidence with the "unplanned" maintenance, driving up surges leaving non-gencos raising white flags
