Means they rushing their job to next place so ask u sign first.
In any case, there is warranty for the point, just that they wont fix it until you're started using it...

Agreed. Had booked for 2pm appointment, they came at 11am. Cos he say he juz finish a unit above us, and requested that can do ours or not. Heard that they r paid per installation per day. So he is rushing to earn more only lor.

Btw, I am crossing my fingers and put a huge bet on my cable connection. Still have 1yr+ contract left. Praying and hoping ppl in my block will jump over to fiber, so the cable will not be very congested. Hoping my persistence and patience will pay off.

lower better, but as said, they can't sign off values which are bad. So there isn't much worry.

your readings are generally fine. i used to work in a fibre optic company before so i know what are the limits. generally, if your values are below 1.0 it should be fine esp if you are in HDB. however, those readings are not 100% accurate cuz you will never be able to get back the same reading

A question - theoretically let's say in future there's a new TV system which supercede Cable TV and use the Fiber Optic instead to receive the signals.
What device will the TV system be using to receive the signal from? The Termination Point or ONT?

I will be having the Termination Point and ONT installed in a particular room, and i want some fiber optics to be wired to the living room for futureproof sake. I just dont know what is to be installed in the living room. :s11:

The so called tv system is already here. Its called iptv. mioTV is iptv.

Neither ONT nor TP.

Your results suck and should be considered marginaly fail. Did they install properly? Test between outside your home and inside your point to see the differences. If margin is big, the installation sucks.

Thanks for your reply and advice.
Though my post will go unnotice.=:p
You mean i have to call them back to recheck..but doubt using what excuse to make them come back:s11:
so better off in sticking to current DSL??

take his comments with a pinch of salt lol... ur readings are perfectly fine.

just for clarification, the marginal difference in the different wavelengths don't matter, cuz only 1 wavelength will be used at any one point in time *as for now*
If you're tt worried, go read up on GPON's maximum loss budget and you'll notice something :)

i 2nd etheralism's comments. what somebody else get is subjective. its dependent on how far are you from the exchange as well as the number of splice points in between. I think for you case, your budget loss should be around 1.5 sort of range. I would need the exact cables lengths to check though. But in anysense, the termination is most probably fine. dun really bother with the numbers. If the numbers fail, OpenNet wouldnt let the contractors off.

Ok. Thanks for your advice and comment.
Then i will leave it as it is and decide when my contract end.
Nuts to such technology so will listen to advice here but will try to read up on what you have mentioned.
Thanks again.:s7:

as end user, we need only to concern abt the speed and quality by the ISPs that we subscribe to. the fiber optic problem shld be left to them to investigate and resolve shld u b unhappy abt the internet speed....

i just call the service provider when quality of my mioTV or the internet signal is suck...
it will be hard to reason with the opennet guys during the fiber installation over the reading.
