Yup, before that I don't really like how Oneplus carry out their marketing but their Oneplus X actually managed to get my impression of OP to be better. It's one good phone tbh after looking at reviews and bros sharing their thoughts at the OPX thread.
Just hope that Singtel does carry it haha and more accessories be widely available at least online~

I'm really tempted to get the Oppo R7s for my dad after testing it at Sitex. I'm just concerned about the software - does the R7s still have the whatsapp notification issue ?

Just go to apps management and lock the watsapp and also make sure all notification are turned on under the notification ctr..that would solve the issue

I know that workaround, but isn't there a way to set blanket policy for all apps ? I don't want my dad to have to do this every time he installs a new app.

what issue is that? my dad never complain to me about whatsapp having any issues..

He main issue with the phone is that during the transfer his contact list got mixed up...he even said some contacts mysteriously disappeared.

Transfer from droid or iphone ? My dad's using iphone now and I'm probably gonna transfer everything over via wondershare . . . not sure if anything is gonna get mixed up

I normally google around for known issues before buying any phone . . . If you run a search for Oppo R7 or R7 Plus . . .

I transferred contacts using sim card from his previous Samsung Trent phone. I could never figure out that phone it didn't have Google Play so I couldn't use an app or something.

Anyway if he doesn't complain, not gonna ask him about it

He has no problems answering when I whatsapp him

well, i been a big S brand user for almost 7 yrs but decided to bid goodbye to it this time coz my last 3 smart phones from them are kinda having same issues over and over again..kinda disappointed wt their quality somehow. I do agree that oppo is not as aggressive as big S as in throwing big money in asia ( other than their own country) on ads. But having to use the new r7s for a week now, i have no regrets but big praises over their uniqueness.

Tried the Oppo R7 at the flagship Suntec store. Overall experience was smooth and great, though I still don't really like how Color OS overall works, maybe a launcher like Google Now Launcher may help.
A good phone nonetheless, with it's quality build feeling quite solid.
