Yup. It shouldn’t be used in sg.

and if u go overseas and that is the colloquial language or the official term there, you follow their way IF you are physically there AND talking to them.

if in sg, do not use that

In Singapore, called it 'kantang' all my life. Only realised it is Malay ('kentang'), not Hokkien, as I originally assumed.


Calculator is a computer. Computer can be a calculator but not always. Though I feel 电脑 more versatile, for the latter reasoning alone.
The only time I use kantang is when I add a jiak in front

ma ling shu is official but tu dou is the popular colloquial form in china, so both are correct.

i m sinkie so for me it is always jiak kantang
Tudou is correct if used in china

The slight different between 菠萝 and 凤梨

菠萝VS凤梨
凤梨,俗称菠萝,是著名的热带水果之一。二者本为同种食物,但存在以下区别:
外形:菠萝叶带齿,果大而圆,一般果皮橙红色;凤梨叶不带齿,外皮大多是绿色的。菠萝的包头深些,而凤梨的包头浅些。

颜色气味:菠萝成熟的时候表皮是黄色,有很浓郁的菠萝味;而凤梨成熟时有一层青绿色的外皮,果香味闻起来也较为寡淡。

口感:菠萝果肉比较硬,口感酸甜,需要在盐水里泡过再吃;而凤梨果肉又软又甜,更好吃一些,且不用盐水浸泡可直接食用。

车厘子VS樱桃
从植物学分类上来说,车厘子来源于Cherries的音译,本质上就是“樱桃”。但“橘生淮南则为橘,生于淮北则为枳”,车厘子和樱桃也是如此,所以不能算完全相同的水果。

产地:车厘子原产于欧洲和美国,是喜光树木;樱桃原产于中国,喜光、喜温、喜湿、喜肥,是生长在中国寒冷潮湿环境中的一种水果。

成熟季节:车厘子的成熟期在每年6月到8月之间;而樱桃一般在5月份开始成熟,成熟期时长一般为一个月。

外形:车厘子皮色暗红,个头略大;樱桃的表皮颜色更红润,为红色或微红色。

口感:车厘子果肉厚密,富有弹性,口感细腻,多汁可口,口感十分香甜;樱桃果实较薄,果肉较少,口感略酸。


猕猴桃VS奇异果
二者在本质上其实是同一种水果,差别在于:

产地:猕猴桃产自中国本土,而奇异果产自新西兰。

外形与颜色:奇异果外形圆润,绒毛细密,看起来精致小巧,而猕猴桃果形较大,果皮上的绒毛较多且分布不均匀,外形相对“粗糙”。奇异果有许多果肉颜色,如绿色、黄色和红色。

口感:奇异果更甜,不酸涩,就算是没有熟透的,味道也是不错的;而猕猴桃只有熟透了的才好吃,不够熟的往往都极为酸涩。

土豆 is potato but usually Mainland chinese uses.

Tor Dao is hokkien for peanuts.

花生 is peanuts.
马铃薯 is potatos in SG.
花生 is peanuts,another name is 地豆
This one is higher higher Chinese sinkie don’t know gar lar.
but you don’t know don’t say it’s wrong. Just accept it’s the correct form other people used lor,very simple

1 item can have many names mah
