what paper do you guys usually use for origami folding?:s11::s11: i always try with plain white paper because its thin n big enuf, but if i want color paper, any big n thin enuf colour paper recommended? places to buy them?

Hi, fedrikosim. We cut out the square paper from the A4 sheet. The square paper follows the breadth of the A4 paper you use. We encourage you to use A4 white paper to learn the 12 fold lines correctly. This way, you need not be afraid to make mistakes and can practise more.

When you are confident to fold your level 1 rose successfully, we'll be happy to teach you how to make the leaves and stalks subsequently.

Cheers.

Finally ...
The completed product.

End of Level 1.

Like I said to my students, Level 1 roses are also beautiful gifts - but this is the BARE minimum standard they have to make. Otherwise the quality will not be there.

You mean how to fold and "pack" the four corner flaps? You can fold the first three flaps one on top of the other in clockwise direction. For the final fourth flap, it would be folded on the third flap and under the first flap.

Hello leonaheidern

Line 10 - PIC-045 to PIC-054
For Line 10, you are supposed to fold a horizontal line which intersects line 9.

Line 11 - PIC-056 to PIC-061
For Line 11, you fold the "SHOW" on top of the "HIDE" side such that, your edge of the "SHOW" side is only a little above the top row of marks at the "HIDE" side. In this position, you can fold the horizontal line to "cut" each small square in the middle of the paper into two triangles. The objective is to form a new square at the centre like PIC-064.

Line 12 - PIC-065 to PIC-066
For Line 12, you pinch the edges of Line 10 and Line 11 so that you can fold a straight line.

You can drop me a PM if you like me to help you learn to fold this level one rose.

You need to fold your "check" lines also after you are done with your lines 12. See PIC-069 to PIC-090.

With your "check" lines folded, you will notice that your paper can collapse in a clock-wise manner to form a "waffle bowl" 3D shape. See PIC-091.
