Ferris wheel is just next to kaiyukan, if you like, can just drop by for a ride.

If this is your 1st visit to Kyoto, I'd recommend Fushimi Inari + Kiyomizudera area, instead of Arashiyama. If you have a 2nd day at Kyoto, then consider Arashiyama.

Your visit is actually pretty short, maybe you can consider visiting Nara + Osaka castle on day 3 (since if you only plan to visit deer area + Todaiji, you should be done with Nara pretty early if you arrive Nara early), and thus you will have a free day at day 5 to spend at Kyoto instead, if you want.

Which month is your visit? Because seasons matters too.

For bus, you can either pay the driver by cash when you alight, or you can buy a 500yen (assuming they have yet to increase this rate) for a 1 day Kyoto bus pass within Kyoto city, you can purchase this from some hotels as well as from the Kyoto tourist info office at Kyoto station.

Here's more info on bus travels within Kyoto:

I tried before Minoo Park -> Osaka Aquarium -> Dotonbori, furthermore I stay Kyoto, so I start/end Kyoto.

If don't mind wake up abit earlier, can see more things.

Togetsukyo Bridge -> Tenryuji Temple -> Bamboo Groves -> Gioji Temple -> Sagano Scenic Railway, if you time properly, can go buy the ticket at the station early in the morning for railway ride then go other places then come back and take the ride.

timetable

Fushimi Inari Shrine -> Tofukuji Temple -> East Kyoto places of interest, can see night illumination of those temples if you going at Koyo Period, the sunset will be earlier, then can go by Osaka by night.

The Sagano Scenic train doesn't operate every day, so please check its operation schedule to avoid disappointment. They also don't operate in winter season (Jan-Feb)

This week going, Sagano Scenic Railway and minoo park, leaf is still green, won't be that beautiful. And Temples in Kyoto haven't light up for night illumation.

If u don't mind spend abit more on train ride, day 5 can go himeji castle and Kobe, himeji castle so far the castle I went most beautiful.

if you take the sagano scenic railway .. pray dun kenna tiong tourist grp.

i kenna on my trip. they spoiled the entire ride , keep making ridiculous noises and shouting at top of their voices . i had to move to another cabin and still can hear them very loudly. that went on for more than half the train ride.

some1 at the other train cabin complain to the conductor and he went over and got the tour guide to tell them to keep quiet.

They still talking but not at the shouting volume.. the whole trip make me headache and piss off lor

Their pattern is like 1 guy shout abt the left side, all right side leave their seat and stand left side, blocking train windows then screaming abt this and that. You cant hear the train announcement n stuff.rinse n repeat for right side.. then keep alternating..

You advance reserve the tickets upon arriving in Osaka??

I'm thinking of going to Umahori then to Kameoka towards Arashiyama during my trip.

So i guess is buy the tickets on the first day i reach Osaka? Going Kyoto like 2 days later..

Hard to say they worth to go or not, its all your own preference. check out reviews on each places and see they are your kind of sights you like. Eg, do you like sea creatures? if you don't like, then you won't enjoy Kaikyukan.
