Think about what's the worst that could happen. After that accept it. After that see what happens or if got an action u can take to get out of it in a better position.

2) If there is nothing you can do to change it, how does thinking change things?

Most people don’t wish to act or make decisions out of fear. But fear resides only in the mind. You’ll find that reality is a lot less scary when you start doing things.
