I have asked them before via email on March. In green are my questions and in blue are the answers. Hope it answers yours.

1)Will this diploma be comparable to a full time local diploma? If not how does this fare if compared with a diploma offered by private institutions?I understand that local university entry requirements only allows local diploma holders. Will this diploma be able to meet the requirement?

(1) There is no equivalent full time diploma for the this PT Diploma. This PT Diploma is endorsed by MOE but will not be eligible for entry into local university, unless graduates take a bridging program of about 6 months. Details are still in discussion on this program

I dont mind bridging program but problem is GPA :(
Need how much to go in...
sad...

Well our Course Leader did share with us the experience of his student who was from the old program (4 year PT Full Diploma). That student was top in poly(not sure if it is school or course), went into NTU but then i think too stressful and the lessons were too fast paced that in the end he opted to drop out on the 1st sem. Im not sure whether is he hinting us on the difference in modules and the level of commitment that we might not make it in the local Uni. Im just speculating here...

Anyway I am now in the current PT diploma but it all depends where you want to go, what this diploma can do for you and what are the obstacles ahead. Currently the upcoming intake is the 3rd batch and the 1st batch will be graduating next year so we will know exactly where this diploma stands by then. At the moment our Course Leader has mentioned that SIM is accepting this PT diploma. No news from NUS/NTU. Hope this information helps.

Heard that this new pt dip even with bridging modules no chances of going into local unis (NUS/NTU). Prolly will be eligible for UNISIM. SIT, unsure abt it. Prolly not too because I checked with them, min requirement is a full time dip. How sad and lost I am. Shud have entered full time dip instead. I'm from the first batch.

Hmmm.. But what about this 2 websites? So they hold no weight compared to the FT dips? Can those who are going to graduate from the first batch share how their diploma will look different from the FT ones?

New pt dip not equivalent to ft dip. We do not have general maths modules which is of profound importance but still have some basic maths that you need to do like algebra for eg. Course modules are basically more of which that will be relevant to working industry, in terms of usage. We do not cover modules for general knowledge like the ft dip. We also do not have attachments.

The entry requirements for NUS u highlighted, generally meant for the old pt dip framework spanning across 5yrs from Singapore Poly which is equivalent to ft dip. Students from old framework take the same modules and exam papers as those ft students. They have module exemptions unlike the new framework. As for NTU, it addresses for Ngee Ann Poly 3yrs pt dip in technology, which allows graduates to further study in some related courses in local unis since Ngee Ann Poly have MOU with NTU.

New pt dip across all polys at present state does not allow you to further studies to uni till bridging modules are affirmed. It's more for working purposes and addresses those who intend to study at a dip level. Those students in the new pt dip framework who intend to further studies to unis are finger crossing at present hoping for bridging modules to be firmed up. It depends how you look at it and your direction in life. I am foremost worried right now. I do not want to spend 2.5yrs of hardwork for nothing. At present still consulting my lecturers abt it. Hope this explanation helps.

Graduates from the new part-time Diploma offered by all the polytechnics will never stand a chance to enrol into the following universities (NUS, NTU, SMU, and SUTD) even with the bridging programme.

The bridging programme will most probably be used for enrolment into UNISIM or SIT. However, realistically speaking, not all who graduate will be able to enrol due to capacity issues. You would stand a better chance with higher than average GPA.

I think Part Time Poly Dip maybe consider for Part Time NUS BTech courses.

Let's see what's the course manager's answer then. Hope he has good news. (cross x fingers)

On the brighter side once you complete as least go for the MOE bursary to offset your course fee.:)

Are you a full time dip holder? Just asking.. Aneway i think unisim & sit are more considered as associate degrees. I read sumwhere that associate degrees are more valued by employers. I don't know if this is through to which extent. No matter whether an individual degree's are from Local or private unis it all boils down to luck and how we portray ourselves to employers in future. Since you got accepted into unisim, congrats to you. All the best. I truly understand every singaporean would relish the chance to be a graduate of our local unis for better chances of job opportunities.. Sadly what else can we do.

For my side, i'm just worried abt this new framework, how well it will be accepted by employers and further studies at a degree level for jobs that interest me.
