You have the budget first or not? It's worth it as it can pretty much play high on all mordern games and maintain 60fps.


this is my list now:

CPU + Mobo : Ryzen 5 2600x + Asrock B450M Steel Legend ~ $450
GPU: Zotac 1660TI Twin Fan 6GB ~ $399
RAM: Klevv Bolt DDR4-3200MHz 8GB x2 ~ $140
PSU: superflower eco silver 600w ~ $95
SSD: Adata XPG SX6000 500GB ~ $120
HDD: Toshiba 2TB ~ $77
Case: Tecware nexus white ~ $68

total about 1.3k.
2070 is definitely out of my budget, maybe few year down the road then upgrade.
for now gonna wait and see the new ryzen CPU before making any move

If want to maximize spending, you need buy from oversea

A quick example

Ram: 2x8gb 3200mhz - $120 at newegg or SGD$110 w/ forwarder @ Google Express
CPU: Ryzen 2600x - $250 inc shpping w/ 2 free games (WWZ & Division 2) @ Amazon
PSU: CM MWE 650W Gold - $95 w/ forwarder @ Google Express
MB: Source locally, a cheap B450 would be around $110.
Compare to your 4 components pricing, the price is obviously cheaper.

If you don't OC, there is no need to overspend on mb.
I would only recommend buying gpu and mb locally. These two items simply have higher rate of failure and troublesome to rma due to its bulkiness.

As for waiting for Ryzen 3000, I don't know. While the ram, ssd and gpu price is dropping, it doesn't mean it will continue to drop. Bitcoin market is now blooming you see? It just hit close to 8k USD now, doubling from 4k within a month. Won't be surprised to see the mining boom back again if it keep raising.

I would rather spend the extra 4 bucks to buy the superflower locally. It's a better PSU and you get it much quicker.

Also if ts don't plan to oc, his choice of chip(2600x) support precision boost and it's basically an auto OC. Hence a good board with good vrm will actually yield better performance.

And yes, precision boost actually works and it works as well as a manual OC. Several reviewers has already tested it.

You need to have tools and skills to build the system for buying from difference places. Some money cannot save.

You can save by learning from youtube on how to build your pc. Did that for 2 mths before i tried out on my 1st pc. Watch a few videos everyday and if possible, compare with your parts if u have them on hand.

But is not some money? You cannot get Ryzen 5 2600x w/ 2 free games locally. These 2 free games combine worth is $100, according to current ubi & steam store. Likewise, saving abit here and there would be important for budget restraint people, can even save up to $100 which basically can get you a tier higher gpu. Let's be real here. If people aren't budget concious, they wouldn't be asking for advise, they would just get the best of everything.

I agree that eco does not have much reviews. But you can simply tell from the list that every PSU they have released so far is at least tier B(3). That already speaks alot about their quality. No other brands which appears more then once on the list can list that as their accomplishment as they have really crappy models down the list.

Simple reason why a cooler isn't included - budget. Also, it is a part which can be easily added/replaced later on unlike a motherboard which is a pain to change. Also, the bundled cooler is actually pretty good. Don't forget that the 2600x actually comes with a beefier cooler when compared to the 2600.

Also what's with the VRM list? Best bang for buck board with good VRM would go to MSI.

I won't disagree with your PSU preference nor the vrm for the motherboard. Although ultimately when it comes to features + vrm, MSI boards are pretty much the best bang for buck.

The CPU cooler however I have to disagree. Firstly, 80 degrees is absolutely fine especially if it's under full load. 2ndly, the specs has already stated that it's good until around 95 degrees before it shuts down/throttles. 80 degrees has enough headroom available.

The reason why we wanna keep temps lows is simply because there's more headroom to pump more power and OC. More power = faster cpu but more heat. That's literally the main reason we actually change to 3rd party coolers.

I would suggest you the asrock b450m pro4. Best micro atx motherboard in my opinion.

Edit: I meant the normal turbo hitting 80. Precision with its even higher clock, easily exceed 80 degree and if really want to make use of precision boost, need a good cooler to make sure the system is cool enough for precision not to automatically limit itself.

I've been to amd community forums and the major consensus is... nothing it's basically how comfortable you are with the temps to performance ratio. Like me for example, I'm fine with my cpu's performance at that temp which is why I'm keeping it. The 95 degrees is basically a do not cross line.

You see, advising a person's budget to their needs within expectations means you pick parts based on how much concrete fps a certain part will give.

Like ts wants to game on high with a 1k-1.1k budget. Just the GPU alone (2060/1660ti) takes up close to half the budget. Sure you could recommend a 1660 and get a better cooler like a hyper 212 which costs like 50 bucks for a possibility of an extra like 5fps(since it improves temps over the stock like an extra 5-8 degrees?)? I could give an average of extra 20-40 fps if you used that money and top up a bit for a better gpu.

So you are telling me you would rather change the motherboard over a much simpler swapping of CPU cooler? You always pick the lesser of 2 evils which in this case, is the cooler to swap in the future.

Lastly, you are blowing the temps thing way out of proportion. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XOOohlyJem0 and take a look at around the 20 mins mark.

Notice the stock out of the box experience temps? Let's just +10 degrees for the sake of argument since our ambient temps are higher. Even with that, the temps are pretty good at stock. And by stock, it means a total out of the box experience without changing any settings which means precision boost is enabled(by default).

The problem with you is your lack of budget conscious. There are people who use their CPU for plenty of years, way beyond the warranty period. So yes, they can say is 95 is maximum safe degree and perhaps that is true for within the warranty period but what about after? What you asking to do is to burn the lifespan away for period beyond that.

I know there are plenty of people who assume to change components once warranty is over but that is not a mentality that apply to everyone.

Even so, your argument is only valid IF the cpu actually hits those temps. As per my linked video, the out of box experience is pretty far from hitting those temps.

You need to find out the ambient temperature when they test those things.

I own a 2600x and used the stock cooler before which is why I know it can slowly hit 80 if continuously run at full load, surely will exceed 80 if using precision boost. Another thing is the design of the stock cooler also lead to higher VRM temperature since warm air is not immediately drawn out of the back unlike tower cooler.
