- Jump start PSU to check if PSU is still working
https://bit-tech.net/guides/modding/how-to-jump-a-psu/1/
- Take out RAM, clean the contacts using rubber than try one stick at a time.

Issue could be either PSU, RAM or Graphic.

Ok I unplugged the 24 pin atx connector from the motherboard, shorted pin 3 and 4 and turned on the power. No sound from the psu. Tried shorting pin 4 and 5 as well, also with and without power cables to other components connected. Nothing.

Ok I think the psu is kaput. To be fair to fsp, it's 4 to 5yo already.

Anyway, I think I might want to upgrade my mb as well. I'm a bit out of the loop regarding DIY pc, so pls help with the recommendations. Cheers!

My current cpu is an Intel 1150 socket (can't exactly remember the model), MB is gigabyte b85m d3h, ram is ddr3.

I should be keeping my gtx1060 GPU, 1 x ssd and 1 x hdd, fractal design arc mini casing. Not sure if I can reuse my digital license Win 10 Home.

So I need recommendations for psu, cpu + cooler, mb, ram. Max budget is 1k, but I'm looking more for value for money, the current sweet spot.

Eventually I'll upgrade my GPU to the latest mid range model of the day, so the new rig must allow that. I mostly surf, listen to music, but I play games also, currently the most GPU/cpu intensive should be the witcher series. I'm more into rpg, almost never fps as I'll become nauseated lol...

Also, I might go down to SLS tmr or Thu, so please help! Cheers and happy lunar new year!

1k is a lot of budget. anyway u mention u prefer rpg over fps, so frames per sec probably doesnt matter that much. gpu compatibility should be no problem.

cpu+mobo+cooler: r5 3600 + b550m pro4 + included wraith stealth $437 tradepac
ram: any cheap 3000/3200/3600mhz 2x8gb ddr4 on amazon ~$120
psu: seasonic focus gx650 $130 tradepac

if want to get a better mobo, can get the msi b550m mortar wifi (which is basically the best matx am4 mobo) for $100 top up.

Great choice, that PSU should last you for years.

Seasonic is pretty good:)
