if you have a budget try buying these

1) Fractal Design Arc Midi r2
2) buy 2 more 140mm fans

your stock heatsink for cpu should be enough you just need a good casing with good airflow

Hmmm currently the size of my case is those midtower kind, any recommendations for those? I'm kinda hopingn for one with a side grill cause I'm pretty traumatized by the lack of one in my current case.

did u make sure that your fans are directed correctly (i.e. back of case is for exhaust, front of case is for intake)?

Also some of my friends have advised me to try using water cooler which i am considering as well in the near future, probably when my pay arrives, but is this a good idea?
I've received quite a mix response regarding the whole water cooling where some of them said it'll require a lot of maintenance or something along that line. Also, im not entirely sure on how the whole water cooling system works, does it cools the gpu as well?

Water cooler is good. Just slightly costly. Can be done also. You can remove the GPU heatsink. But however it does voids the warranty if found out.

Nowadays water cooling dont require much of an intensive maintenance. Some are maintenance free.

use a AIO cooler is good even you don't oc...
1. No more bulky heatsink that restricted your casing air flow
2. No more cleaning of the Heatsink.
3. No more fugly oxidized heat sink.

best if u can post a pic of your pc interior.

i think cleaning of radiator is still required

What case is it, well frankly i have no idea, i've never seen anthing like this but i'll just assume its some cheapo case since i think it has pretty bad airflow. Any recommendation for mid tower cases?

Probably you can take some pictures of your case exterior and interior and post them here? Will help the bros here to advise you better.

I can't see the intake fan (the one you mentioned that's blowing in), so I have to assume it's blowing straight at the cage containing the harddisks.

Seems like you've done some debug, so check with u:
  1. How did u conclude that the PC is overheating?
  2. How did u conclude that the harddisk failed due to heat?
  3. U mentioned that with the case closed, the PC crashes randomly. But will the PC 100% not crash when the side panel is open, with a household fan blowing at it/near it?
  4. Are you able to reliably make your PC crash by running some program?

By the looks of it the case has a very bad air flow. Only one exhaust fan at the back. You need more.

1 of the fan slot is not utilized. So you would probably need one more.

Next is the stock heatsink. That should go away and replace with a slightly better heatsink. Take it out and see the thermal paste. Most likely it is dried up.

If you don't think you wanna spend much, then i suggest that you remove your heatsink first. Power on for a good 10mins and see if the thermal paste is in slightly liquid or still solidified. If it is still solid then you will need to remove it and reapply the thermal paste.

Dont see much of a dust in the case itself. I have seen worse. As worse as 3mm thickness worth of dust.

sorry, the picture i've taken are in really bad angles but yes there's only one as of now, its below the psu.

1. For the overheating, it was quite apparent, first off i play dota 2 quite often, so at the start of getting this pc, everything was running smoothly, until after 2-3 months, i start to notice this massive delay in the animation while playing. I tested this on other games as well such as the witcher, civilization etc and all of them experience this delay in animation after just playing them for about 10-15min. after which i place my hand at the side of it and it was really hot, so i opened up the case and immediately, i could feel the rush of hot air. The games were running smoothly after i opened up the case.

2. Well for that i do not have a definite answer but this was my thought process: I got dead island for my pc since it was on sale, installed it and played, only 5min into the game and it froze and went into a black screen and eventually it shut down. I was playing the game with the case close(completely forgotten to open it) so i decided to clean it up, i took out the gpus, cleaned it up(sure enough it was filled with quite a lot of dust), and place everything back in. Which throughout the process, i have never touched any other parts of my pc. Or so i thought, as when i boot it up, i immediately received a temperature error for my cpu, after that it was the "os not found". So i did a bit of research and read that it could but a minor hard disk error, unfortunately it wasnt as the entire hard disk was busted, got a part of new ones and boot up everything again.
Now with the pc repaired, i downloaded dead island again and played, just run the game for 2 hours and no problems, even on multiplayer.
This black screen crash was the 2nd time it ever happened, the first time it happened was also due to the fact that i was playing the witcher with the case close.

3. It doesnt really crash randomly, it crashes when i play games that are dota 2 and above(in terms of intensity), with the case close. If i were to just surf the net with the case close, i would say it has never crashed on me.

4. Im not sure i understand this question entirely, do you mean like testing the video card stability?

Hope this was helpful, also to add on, when i went to get it fixed the first time, I was told that the heat had damaged some parts of the gpu and the motherboard(fortunately not the major components of it, just 1 or 2 of the usb portions). This might be the link to (2.).

And with the whole thing regarding dust, thats probably one of the main reason I'm hoping for solutions to overcome this heating issue without having to check on it every 2-3 months.

Thanks for the help!

Yea the lack of fan is really an issue. Previously i had an additional fan below my current one to drain out the heat, didnt really work as i ended up having to play my games with the case open. Haha for the dust, as of now its newly repaired, with the case opened most of the time, its very easy for me to accumulate dust on it.
I'll try the thermal paste part, does it apply to gpu as well?

Yes. But the gpu heatsink and thermal paste should not be tampered with as it may void the warranty if any.
