PC recommendation (Budget 2k)

Dear all,

Not sure if it's fine for me to open a thread. Looking to purchase a rig in Feb 2021.

Would like a recommendation for 1.9k to 2k SGD. Prefer to have someone to build for me as I have no patience in handling hardware. Also, would be ideal if have any issues, there's someone who can diagnose or fix.

Personally using the rig for not so graphic intensive gaming like Dota/maple story/GTA V/FIFA and video editing
And also emulator gaming (might leave the pc afk long period).

RGB is preferred and also considering whether to get mATX Mobo + mid tower case. However, friends telling me that mATX mobo might look ugly as there will be empty spaces.

Thinking of getting something along the specs as below:
Ryzen 5 5600x
MSI B550-A PRO
adata spectrix d50 or d60 rgb 3200mhz 16gb kit
ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro M.2 NVMe SSD 500GB
Toshiba 1GB 7200RPM HDD
Superflower leadex3 650w gold
Tecware mirage 240 argb / ID cooling
Bequiet Purebase 500 Dx Tg Atx (black) / or similar mid tower case
GPU - RTX 3060 TI (prefer palit/galax) or RTX 3060 (in March 2021 maybe?)

Any comments and recommendations will be appreciated !

After that shocked dot com. After sales got issue just call them since you don’t like to diy troubleshoot. They also have ALOT of gpu.

If you can hold off getting a rig now, best to wait. Based on your existing budget, it is possible that you may end up spending close to 3/4 of it on just the CPU and GPU itself. This is especially so for the GPU which is in short supply and prices being pushed out of proportion.

if u yourself already know that ur use case is not very demanding, then there is no point spending so much on your rig. spending that much will get u a rig that can play 1440p graphically intensive games at reasonable high quality and fps, which none of the games u listed require. for maple dota etc u should be spending about 1k and not wasting money on performance u won't notice. I suggest u look at the ryzen 5 3600, b450 and 1650 super if they suit your needs.

I'm not too sure what your friends mean by empty spaces. if anything, full atx will have even more empty space than matx and u putting a matx board in an atx case will only accentuate it more I recommend getting matx since most people won't put much more expansion cards other than the gpu, generally cost cheaper than full atx boards and matx cases will still offer adequate cooling while still being more compact.

Yeah. Thats why I am thinking if I can get hold of 3060 close to MSRP also not too bad =)

Matx on mid tower ok la...not itx on mid tower or matx on full tower. Won't look ridiculous...

stay away from the tecware nexus. not too sure about the nexus m2/3, but tecware offers seemingly better ones like the forge m and alpha. theres also the cooler master nr400 which comes in quite a lot more expensive than tecware offerings, but has a better build quality. one last recommendation which i quite like personally is the silverstone ps15-rgb: affordable, compact and good airflow.

Interesting suggestion. However, will still learn towards mid tower unless I wanna cut cost =)

mATX case =/= budget case necessarily. Look at the Fractal Design Define/Meshify Mini cases for instances.

It's mainly about what size case you're looking to have occupying the available space on/under your desk, then airflow/noise/dust/feature concerns. mATX towers are a sweet spot for people with non-top end CPUs/GPUs who don't intend to OC or have overriding special use cases eg. home server, multi-GPU etc.


Either way though, since you explicitly don't want the hassle of DIY, just go Aftershock. Not sure how flexible they are regarding specs.

Thanks for your comments ! Yeah, I dont intend to OC, and probably not looking to upgrade anything for the next 3-4 years at least. Aftershock is a consideration but looks like they are not flexible with their RTS builds, and their custom builds are a little bit pricey

I believe one of the reasons is to allow you to use custom/individually sleeved cables even for that supposedly fixed cables.

I recommended it because it has proven to be a top tier power supply since its first iteration.
