Around 4am last night, I was awoken by my PC turning itself on by itself (PC is next to my bed). It was several starts (PC light and fans turn on for 2 seconds then off, this happened 4-5 times before it turned on and went into POST and Windows).

I shut down and went back to bed and it started again! In the end I turned off the PSU and went back to bed. What could be the cause? I think maybe not the first time and there has been a couple of times I turned on the PC and instead of a normal startup, it was a return from sleep mode. I thought I'd just forgotten to turn off

you make it sound as if your PC is an advance AI evolving into Skynet to create Terminators.

Check your win10 Hibernate settings. Or off your main power totally when PC not in use.

Off mains at wall should permanently fix the wake up issue and save electricity.

Go bios... disable all the wake on functions... presume your win10 shutdown properly...

Try removing the wires from power button to mobo... could be power button that is shorting
