PCTheme - Extremely disappointing

Had a bad experience with PCtheme;

Due to the fact that I was led to believe that the updated price list (e-Brochure) is accurate thus made my way to their store in Sim Lim to purchase a particular item; Zotac 960GB SSD, however the sales person (Not Yilong but some skinny dude wearing glasses served me) and was abit taken aback when he told me it was OOS, fair and fine enough.

The part that irritates me is the fact that I noticed the latest price list still reflects the item thus advised them nicely to remove it since the item is OOS. A guy called Alan replied that I should have called them, I give him credit for some constructive justifications/arguments. HOWEVER, through my further investigation, that particular item OOS since months ago and even after my request they did not clarify, and the thing is that they know about this issue yet nothing is done.

Therefore, that will the last time that I ever go near that shop again due to the fact that one item is OOS and yet remains in subsequent pricelist, how can we trust them the accuracy of availability for all items listed then?

Last but not least, even accuracy is not of utmost importance, it is accountability.

If you look through my post in FB, it is fine that it is OOS, but it is the factual when I unravelled the truth for that item had listed for ages with zero inventory nor replenishments and no clarifications were given. If they were to just explain, I would have accepted it graciously as to Give and take / forgive and forget. But no, it is far away from that ideal situation and faced with a nonchalant or "bochup" attitude? No thanks.

Serious? I remember when I did my PCs I did noticed few items are not available but they did inform me if this or that replacement/alternative is acceptable, THAT is good customer service. I will grumble, but not out loud and still appreciate it.

Many of the shops there are like that. I think laserpro or something for example carry a price list of things years ago. Which I'm sure has been oos for long time. Just learn to do do some homework next time. Honestly I don't think it's such a big deal that you need to go on social media to complain about it. Don't mind, but you seem to be a petty type of person.

I know it frustrating to go down the store to know that the item you wanted to buy OOS. but that happens to everyone not only you. Sometime it hard to track which items is OOS and the price list is just a general guideline of the price which I personally do not think it suppose to reflect whether an item has stock.

accountability? seriously there are more issue in this country that need accountability rather than the issue you face with this store.

I think this OOS thingy has been on since I first stepped into Sim Lim in 2000s. Very common for all the shops to continue listing despite not having the item.

Yup, this issue has existed since long ago. Although some shops are more OOS-y than others.

I could go around the whole SLS looking for something (at least 5 shops had it listed in pricelist) but they were all OOS with no intention of bringing in more, except for 1 shop that was OOS but coming next week (or so it was claimed).

That's also why it bugs me when people on forums just randomly hamtum answers when people ask where to get something.

Actually this is the norm for all SLS Shop.
Out of stock item remains on pricelist.
That's why we always call and ask before going down.

No shop in SLS remove the item off pricelist when OOS.
Therefore your anger on them is misguided since this is a common practice for every shop.

Wait.. to be fair to pcthemes , other shops are also not updating their pricelist promptly.. so why is pct made the scapegoat ? Its hardly practical to keep updating a pricelist where stock movement can be highly volatile. Furthermore they don't link stocks to their pricelist. There is no system in these shops to auto link.

So I think buyer should do due diligence to ensure there are stocks before going down. It's just a phone call away isn't it ?

Can't be blame all SLS shops are like that.

Usually shops only bring in few pieces or limited by distributor stock.
If there's demand may bring in a few more else wait till oos then wait for restock. Then the rest depend on distributor alrdy which may take days or weeks.

If buying specific item, better to call before heading down.
If not, always have a backup plan to replace in case item is unavailable.
