If that is the case, how come Singapore used to be cheaper and some of electornic items are still cheaper. I am sure you know how big Aust. is and imagine the logistic cost of delivery to all over from one port of either from Sydney or Melbourne to Perth and Darwin and Tasmania? Costs of labour is a lot higher there too.

At the launch of 8G, 508xd was retailed at ~A$6k if my memory serves me correct and now down to less than 3k, more than 50% drop! So the launch price is simply due to smaller market?

When you buy electronics product. !st launch is always much more expensive and sometime it come with bugs.

When the model get older, the price also drop. When the brand is noy so popular, the price drop even more. - Hard to get spare parts too!

PDP 428XG - Price update

Hi
Any one has latest price and store for PDP 428XG?
My options or either Panny 42PV80/42PY800 or PDP 428XG...
Cost will be an important factor as this will be my first HD TV. And looking for future upgrade if the HD contents becomes really cheap or same level as DVD.
I mostly watch SCV and DVD's - very little gaming in the old X-box (not the 360) by my hyperactive son.

Since your viewing diet is mainly SD, the Pioneer is a good choice. You can refer to this forum under this thread and the COMEX thread for recent prices.

By the time HD prices drop, you can get a new TV which can be Full HD.
Cheers

QUOTE]

Hi! May i know where can we buy the Pioneer PDP 428XG at $2288?

Also considering between buying this model and Panasonic 42PY800 for mainly SD TV and movies dvd viewing. Any recommendation whether the Pioneer or Panasonic model is better for the above usage?

Thanks a lot! :)

For TV and movie, you should go for the pioneer. The ability for the set to display black is really unmatched. The Kuro will change the way you watch television. A picture so stunningly clear you can recognize faces in a crowd. Motion has never been this realistic, this pure or this clear. The revolutionary video processor takes the most demanding scenes, the fastest fast break, the most furious action, and renders every scene with a clarity that has never been seen before in a home theatre. Everything is clear, crisp, rich, and gorgeous. And we do mean everything. Though high-definition is a major leap forward, much of what is broadcast today is still standard-definition. With The Kuro, there is no need for compromise. The Kuro brings out the very best in these signals, noticeably improving detail, colour and depth

Hi all. A bit of news to share with all bros out there. Just got back from Harvey Norman at MW. Was looking between LCDs and Plasma TVs. There is a very good deal on the Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX508G (Full-HD). They slashed 50% off the price. Its going like for 7499 now. Normal price is 14K I think unless the saleguys tried to smoke me. Funny thing I went to the Harvey Norman at Suntec to look at the same tv and he gave me the price as 13,999. When I told that MW was offering 50% off the price, he cldnt believe it. :s13: Oh well.. so who got spare 8K to lend me? hahaha

I wouldn't go so far as to say Panasonic is better or even equal to Pioneer but I what I would say is that for the budget concious, Panasonic gives the the best value.....for now:D

And HN at Jurong point is selling PDP-508XG (1365x768) at 4999, down from the RRP of 7k. Courts at JP is selling at 6999. Are these price cut indicative that 9th Gen is going to be available in SG soon? Some 9th gen models were released in US and europe since June.
