TVs are not commodities which retain a lot of value, best to be realistic about your expectations.
Even if it is a good TV, good condition and all, a new TV from another brand is easily available for not much money.
Think about that.

have a few questions guys. now that pioneer is closing its tv business will its prices go down sharply? also, i have a Pioneer PDP-434HDG that i bought at 3.5 years ago...still in excellent condition..for ard 6.5k. i was wondering what trade in value can i get for this tv at audio house or any other shop? thanks in advance guys

haha, believe me. i really don't have much expectations. to be honest, my tv is working totally fine. just that i wanted to upgrade it to 50" with full HD and with better resolution, as now it's 43" inch, HD ready and with resolution of 1024x768.

sidenote: i just got a sharp 32" lcd tv and it just makes me realise even more how awesome my pioneer's PQ is, compared to sharp's atleast.

edit: i just called audio house. they do not accept trade in anymore. hmm, u guys know of any other places that accept trade in?

At the most, they will offer you a couple of hundreds. At that kind of value, you may want to consider using it as your bedroom or spare set in another room.

i think you will get better price in the resale market.

I just sold my 5yr old Philips to a repair man for $100. Bought it for 5k the last time. It was a 37in pixel plus plasma.

Here is what he says.

He will pay 10-20 more for LCDs, since more LCD in the market means more repair business.
What he does is he takes your set, dismantles them and repair other sets and charge them about 100-200 on repair charges!

so good luck on getting good prices for trade in.
best is to give it to relatives, but then transport and re-setting up is a real pain.

put your tv up for sale in the various forum buy and sell. start bid at $1. see the highest value that ppl is willing to pay...
my guess is that you would be lucky if someone offer $100 for it.

Good luck to get a price from him, don't waste you time on asking him for it. Have you ever seen him posting his prices? He always tell us to USE SEARCH before asking, but nowhere to find of him posting his price. What a contradiction he makes of himself.
