This industry news explains why the mfg date of my media box is oct 2009.but it still does not support the claim that panels made in 2008 are display sets.

Strange, they usually come in 1 pair.
You may want to ask the shop you bought from this question "Why" ? Especially they are 1 years of different!

There is a possibility of your delivery get swapped before reaching you? Just my guess?
Another possibility is the media box get defective and it get replaced with new stock.

ha ha...I must apologise that my eyes seem to be aging faster than the rest of my body parts. The mfg date of my panel is in fact Aug 2009 rather than 2008. So it seems that the dates gel, though 2 months apart. In any case, the media box came separately in its own box and is made in Malaysia rather than Japan.

I have contacted the salesman who sold me the set in C3 and he has contacted Pioneer about this claim about sets with mfg period of 2008 being display sets. He is waiting for a response from Pioneer and I have told him that he can send this official statement from Pioneer to me so that i can post on this forum as well as on the xtremeplace forum.

Thats good news.
Should have asked you to take note and take a pic of the S/N.

Run-in and use it as much as you can, esp in the next few days.

But remember to keep it full screen and alternate channels.

Cheers

That's based on the particular author's view of the TVs.. so not sure it reflects what the rest of the videophiles really know what Pioneer is all about..

The Kuro is considered a 2008 product and given the end of the production run, it will not be easily available to the public, hence it will not be considered for any 'top TV' lists.

I just bought KRP500A, found out the Asia(Malaysia) version does not have the PURE MODE :s31: selection. Just Curious to know does Singapore version had it or not? Or PURE MODE setting only for EU and US??

I'm not using any AV receiver or speaker system, only the KRP-500A side speaker for all HD and SD viewing. Do you have any SOUND setting? Currently I just set all the sound effect SRS FOCUS, SRS, SRS TruBass and SRS Definition to High..=:p

As for AV source I'm using "Movie", can someone kind enough to provide me the best setting for viewing SD and BluRay material?
