Ahh I see.

To be fair, $189 is a decent price for those on a budget., and I would have seriously considered it, but I feel having a larger battery capacity being a better tradeoff for my uses. The PM3 is suppose to serve as my media device to entertain and keeping up with the news while I am traveling. My preferred travel style is to take a minimalist approach to backpacking. Having this 6,000mah phone with all the features that I need, coupled with a 20,000mah powerbank should be more than sufficient if I am not able to land accommodations that allows me to charge my phone. I tend to stealth camp whenever possible when I am abroad, so I do like the independence it affords me between battery charges.

Thanks for the inputs! I did think of getting another Note 8 Pro but the current battery life on MIUI 12 on my own unit isn't fantastic hence shortlisted Poco M3 with 6000mAh and Redmi Note 9S with 5020mAh batteries. Will see how 12.12 sale prices for both models turn out to be.

If you want to evaluate which shortlisted phones are more suited to your needs, make a list of criteria that you want the phone to have. I tend to lean towards lowest possible price tag for the best possible specs. It is more of a habit than monetary restrictions really.

How new is the phone from launched date, does it have the features I want - i.e basic camera, decent speakers, big on battery capacity, etc. Secondary considerations being features I can live without, like NFC is nice, but not a deal breaker if I am not able to squeeze that in with the budget I have restricted myself to. LCD instead of LED? No biggy, all my past phones have been LCD anyways, and while LED would be nice, it isn't a deal breaker either. Low-mid range camera system instead of a 1XXmp camera with better macro and depth sensor? Not a big camera user who take selfies or photos to win any awards, so I do not really care. Etc.

What I want is functionality without breaking the budget, and yet looks nice enough that I want to keep using it.

Hope you find some nice deals during the 12.12 sale! Good luck.

Actually I am quite similar as you. Camera good to have, but am not photography fanatic. Never used a phone with NFC before, so aren't sure what it can be used for too...

Currently using F1 because it was selling $200+++ promotion

I see, the snapdragon processor along with big battery should be the best combination for your needs. I like your approach to travelling, hope the lockdowns end soon and we can all travel like before. Cheers 😊

hello. i was wondering if there is a piece of screen protector or something which comes with the phone itself. tried to look at the reflection on the phone it seems like theres a layer of plastic on it or something. tried to remove but dont dare try aggressively =\

There should be a pre-applied screen protector.

The device will be for my father who is currently running a Max 3, needed a phone with large battery and slightly smaller footprint as he found Max 3 too cumbersome now plus recent updates made the phone slow and battery running out fast. Hence, I narrowed down to Poco M3, Redmi Note 9S and Redmi Note 8 Pro. He snaps photos casually so having multiple lens is of not much use, he doesn't use phone for payments hence NFC is not essential. He runs multiple apps sometimes hence having a decent processor with at least UFS storage I feel is better, hence ruling out Redmi 9, Redmi 9A and Redmi Note 9. Will see how the prices for the 3 shortlisted models turn out on 12.12.

Best sales now I think is qoo cos got alot of different discounts.

$169 for 64gb and $189 for 128gb.

And still can use bank/grabpay cashback to get even more discount. The best discount is using grabpay or standard chartered Bank, got 10% cashback for grabpay and $15 cashback min spend $80 for standard chartered. But the cashback can only claim after shipping is completed lah.

So if can get cashback (using Grabpay), $152.1 for 64gb and $170.1 for 128gb (quite good deal)

Product link here: https://qoo.tn/BXGMSX/Q128429383

Can redeem the $10 off min spend $60 from here first (in the middle of the page)then apply to cart later:

Good for normal users but not good enough for those obsessed with battery life like you.

Most people, who wanted to buy, bought it on the single day sale and now they are not coming to the forum already.
