has anyone successfully gotten vsc post while studying?
i just attended their briefing last week and received an email for psychometric test. what would the test be about and what will they be looking out for? also, what is the average duration each stage would take? i heard the next intake is july..

Me! I’m currently in uni year 1 sem 2 and I got the acceptance email in December 2018! Psychometric test is quite easy, it’s on patterns, logical thinking and personality and scenario questions. My entire application process was around 8 months haha. I know the current intake started in February but not sure about the next intake! Below is my timeline if you need :)

- 9 June: Psychometric test
- 19 July: Interview
- 11 August: medical checkup
- 12 December: accepted!

The current vsc intake started in March 2019. Next intake starts in June and I'm in that intake :)

Hi guys need ur help!

Finished my nitec with a gpa of 1.4(Regretted nvr put in effort) Right now rly regretted and after few months of thinking, should i sign on as a direct entry sergeant with my nitec cert and study part time while serving my bond (if able to get into part time poly) else private to get my diploma which is the reason i am thinking of signing on as my family is poor and have to depend on myself to folk out for my study. (Planning to use the 10k to fund my study)

So in conclusion which path should i head to right now? Nt called up for ns yet. Sign on or go for ns first?

when did you receive your acceptance email and how long was your overall application process?
I was informed that I was accepted in March 2019 (a few weeks after my medical) but couldn't make it for the march intake, so I'll be in the June intake instead

Yes but should be soon already so have to decide fast.

I suggest you to inform CMPB prior to ur application of SPF if not they will send you an enlistment letter straight.

Hey there, I'm a pre-enlistee too.

I applied for SPF before I got my enlistment letter. I'd say there's not a need to worry so much. Usually they would process pre-enlistees quickly before CMPB sends them enlistment notice.

I applied in Oct 2018 and got offered the job in Dec 2018, once you accept the offer, Manpower department will ensure your NS branch of service is SPF and few days after bond signing, PNSD (Police NS Department) will send you the same enlistment notice as the NSFs reporting.(Mostly its for formality sake)

If you have some questions, just clarify with the officer from recruitment or you or drop me a DM.

All the best and hopefully see you in HTA!:)

Yes hi thxs alot for the information. But rn wat i am more worried abt is if i should sign on with my nitec cert? Heared that progression in spf without a degree or diploma is hard and most likely i would leave after my 5yrs bond unless i got promoted to insp which is impossible for nitec.

I have a fair share of passion of being a police officer (More towards being a Npco) but the main reason i am signing on is becuz of the attractive lump sum of 10k and be able to draw regular salary during my 6mth training in hta which mainly would be use to fund for my diploma as my family is poor and i have to depend on myself.

So right now i am rly confused regarding to my future so any advice would be helpful to me in deciding for my choice and would rly appreciate for u guys help.

Ps i still new to hwz so cant dm u yet.

It's not impossible for a Nitec holder to be promoted to Insp. There's more than one way to be an Insp.

Emplacement Scheme: For good performing officers to be promoted to Insp within 5 years of service even without a degree.

A/Insp (Acting Inspector) Scheme: It means you can be any rank (SGT 1 to SI) holding your actual rank wages (Eg: SGT 1) but wearing Insp epaulettes and sign off as A/Insp [Your Name Here]. Due to your A/Insp, you have the same power to hold Insp appointment like Team Leader (TL). Once you are able to perform, SPF will send you to C course (A course shorter than OCT, 6 weeks compared to 6 months) where you will pass out as a P/Insp.

If you cannot perform as A/Insp, you just go back to your actual rank like SGT 1 and carry on the normal Police Officer career path (SGT1 -> SGT2 -> SGT3 -> SSSGT -> SI -> Insp).

Graduate Police Scheme: Basically, get your degree while you're in the force and few times a year, the scheme will open for applications and you'll attend interviews. If selected, you'll attend the 9 month residential training at HTA

But also ask yourself if SPF where you want to serve your NS. Sometimes additional reasons to sign on can be preference to go SPF/SCDF over SAF for NS.

Plus, if you say you got a passion, then keep it burning strong. Who knows, you may be staying longer than your 5 years bond.

Go ahead and sign on if you feel its what's best for you.

All the very best to you.:)
