But for a biz grade laptop, viewing angles are not a primary concern.

Colour distortion from odd viewing angles on a TN helps with privacy, slightly.

Though in general, having a panel with good colour reproduction and no "screen door effect", burn in effect are a definite plus.

Agreed. Though I would imagine there are 2 ways to go about it; (a) get TN screen to begin with or (b) get a snap on/snap off 3M privacy filter with a good IPS

The IPS on my Latitude 7480 feels amazing (after koping notebookcheck's ICC file), it's as though my U2414H was transplanted to my laptop

Anyone bought or try HP pavilion 15? If compare Asus FX 553 and HP pavilion 15, HP had longer battery life and 300g lighter. I guess I have limited choice if my budget is around $1300.

Not to mention more RAM as well. Anyhow, it's best to assess both models in person as the look and feel of a laptop will ultimately affect your purchase decision. :)

Took a quick look, the HP Probook really looks like a no brainer (to me). 3-year NBD plus 3-year warranty on the battery. Even my $2k Dell doesn't have 3-yr on battery. Though I guess teens will look at the Pavilion/FX533 price:spec ratio and see it as a no brainer

The only thing is that HP kept the trend of using crap TN on their probooks - https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-ProBook-440-G4-Core-i7-Full-HD-Notebook-Review.191099.0.html

The 3-year NBD warranty only applies to the laptop. One year for the battery.
Here's the link to the disti's full T&Cs.

So who telling the truth? HP brochure or distro? :s22:

Can't understand why chut pattern. Dell for E7270/E7470 gave 3yr for batt, then 7280/7480 back to 1yr :vijayadmin:

But it's on the HP polytechnic roadshow brochure as well, only for that model so the usual terms and conditions will be offset.

Normally laptop battery warranties are 1 year unless otherwise specified by very premium warranty upgrade terms (those with accidental damage protection tier). The warranty upgrade excludes batteries. But if it states otherwise, best to check this out with the originator as there's a chance of getting wrong info (or the manufacturer's warranty portal).

Cause most people do not know how to manage their batteries well or laptops with poorer charge controllers/poorer cells, and it is expected that probably by year 2 people are looking at battery replacement and this is an upsell should the user grab the carrot.
(esp if its removable and non sealed, you minimise trickle charging on AC unless its a pro laptop with proper custom charge thresholds)

Similar to laser printer warranty, they cover hardware and labour less drum replacement :s13:

Add your own ram lor.

Can buy from Dell direct, regular retail store (Newstead), or a Dell partner. I bought mine from Addon's (Dell partner) retail outlet since it was cheaper than Dell Direct.

but if adding ram on my own will it affect warranty?

for latitude laptop, how long is the warranty? 3 yrs also?

for poly laptop fair i think onli the warranty and price are the attractive factors :o

Went to NYP roadshow just now, they were showing the GL553 with the old non rgb lower key travel keyboard even though the brochure and website show the new one :s11: , confused now.
Anyone who bought from there can confirm?

Did you check with the ASUS staff since you were there?

I bought the FX553. No scaling issues.

Check your display's resolution. Make sure it's set to the panel's native reso.

My mistake, went back there today and saw that it's actually the new type. I only took a quick around the roadshow yesterday, did not really ask the staff much
