I'm keeping my old rig alive for my every other non-gaming pc needs. I swapped in an older 500w psu and noticed that I'm getting alot of bsod which I suspect is ram related. Question is can old and lower wattage psu cause bsod? weird...:s11::s11::s11:

i believe psu can cause a lot of weird problems.

Personal experience, long long time ago, my com keep getting bsod while playing Battlefield 1942.

Troubleshoot like mad from software to gfx card to mobo etc... end up is psu. -.-" least expected but once changed, no more bsod. So yeah just saying.

I suspect its my psu but I don't have exact proof of it.
Here's the history of my problem (since 2008)

I started out with this setup:
Q9550 + Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R
2 x 2gb ddr2 800 Kingston CL5
WD 640GB Black (PCT)
Enermax Pro 82 625W

(2010)
then I added 2 more 2gb ddr2 800 Kingston CL5 and things start going weird...

Sometimes bsod, sometimes cant boot up.
I ran memtest on all 4 ram, at different slots, all no problem.
Usually I just try to reslot them, they'll work fine for a while.
but after awhile all the bsod, rebooting will fry the ram.
I'll have to rma them.

(2012)
Then I upgrade gfx card to palit gtx460, and bought a seasonic psu x760w.
I mess around with the ram voltage settings, but i just couldn't get the system to stablise.

Then I bought 4x2gb CL6 Crucial ram to try out. Everything seems fine till I recently cannibalised the seasonic psu for my new rig, replaced it with my old enermax one.

Now I'm unable to run 4 sticks of ram together. I swapped back my seasonic psu. Nothing works, I cant boot to bios screen at all.
Ran a quick memtest on all slots and ram, no problem.

well technically I dun really need my old rig. But I'm just curious to find out whats wrong lol... psu problem? or ram problem?? or mobo can't support 4 sticks? Abit lame, mobo give me 4 ram slots, I can't use them all?

Anyways just sharing to see if any bros here share similar problems.:s12:
