Generated AI, FTTR and 50G PON
Nokia is pushing 50GPON technology which are capable of 10G (true 10G)/25G/50G and even 100G with different partners.
why not...our fibre broadband costs is cheaper than theirs!I think hard to have it here.
I think yes for office and data centre but not for home, why not...our fibre broadband costs is cheaper than theirs!
ah ...u mean there is no use case...that I agree...I think yes for office and data centre but not for home,
That is correct. Understand that the present Nokia OLT can support up to 25Gbps and i have suggested this 25Gbps internet to SH.Give it another decade, we will get there, similar to the transition from GPON to XGS-PON. This also shows it was the right decision to go with fibre, because the infrastructure could be repurposed by upgrading the OLT and ONT to achieve higher speed.

AI mentioned just need to change the card on the OLT and the user home ONT which is quite minor upgrade.OLT can support, but likely their core switch will struggle to keep up![]()
That's not it, they would need their entire switching and routing infrastructure to keep up too, otherwise it's be QoS-ed to a much lower speed during peak periods.AI mentioned just need to change the card on the OLT and the user home ONT which is quite minor upgrade.
yes i think peak hours will be an issue. Starhub turn down when i suggested it the first time and refer to management for review when i suggested again. I hope i can see it in 5 years time. That's not it, they would need their entire switching and routing infrastructure to keep up too, otherwise it's be QoS-ed to a much lower speed during peak periods.
