I am looking something similar to the above too.

Just to show battery in number format (e.g. 99 ) in the notification bar.
Don't need any extra functions as it will eat system resources and battery life.

Any recommendations?

Battery indicator free version is a simple one....don't find that it takes more resources or battery.

Finally took the plunge.

Took me about an hour. Mainly is finding the downloads for the icons

took the plunge as in to zhng the phone. haha

previously was just using it go launcher with black wallpaper to save battery. got really inspired after reading this thread and the various contributions.

btw, wallpaper was taken from zedge. search under wall to wall. one of the pictures there :)

A colleague was showing off my phone to my other colleagues (Apple fans) about how light and thin the GS2 was, camera etc and all. Praises and all were heard except for my homescreen coz its black, very default and monotonous and seriously fugly.

That was the ignition for me to study how the experts do it in this thread. Hahaha!
