Think that's the model gamers nexus is investigating and experimenting on currently. Newegg also frequently bundles that model with 3000 series gpu to clear their stocks despite all the bad reviews, forcing people to buy a dangerous psu with expensive gpu. The oem is apparently some random china manufacturer new to the PSU market.

Locally is another model but Gigabyte PSU are not popular.
The model sold here, the annoying thing is capacitor on the modular cables which I do not know what is the purpose.
Cable management is also a nightmare since the caps are popping out.

It's to smooth out the current. Very minor effect as the PSU already has capacitors for this purpose.

To correct, I don't think its Newegg forcing the bundle, but rather Gigabyte that is forcing the bundle. This was a topic covered by Gamer's Nexus. You normally see this bundled with Gigabyte GPUs. They can't sell it because there are too many negative reviews on it. So the only way to clear out stock of these crappy PSU is to bundle it with GPUs. Its a despicable move, but it will come back to bite them if the PSU causing widespread issues.

Well then I hope gigabyte get forced to do a recall if the psu has serious safety flaws, consumers should not be paying for a company's greed. Its even worse if they are knowingly doing this to clear out their stocks knowing it is flawed.

I think through this hardware shortage, we start to see a lot of bad business practice surface. This is just one of that.

In this case, even if Gigabyte don't do a recall, they will have to keep servicing these PSUs unless its purchased by someone outside of US and not eligible for RMA. The main concern is that when it blows, it takes with it other components in the computer. That will be a bigger problem.

Locally I noticed these two models some shops carry them. The P650B there are mentions about catching fire on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/reviews/B079SSKYWB

The one model in Youtube I have not seen it before.
Not sure local distro can feedback about this or not but one thing for sure Gigabyte PSU very few buyers.
Most will buy Cooler Master or Corsair.

The unfortunate fact is that there are people that don't see the importance of paying for a good PSU. On the surface, the PSU just supplies power to the components, so there are people that will scrimp on buying a good PSU. They just look at wattage and may be efficiency, and the price becomes the main deciding factor. Many times when I sell a PC, I will ask what PSU are they intending to get. In a lot of cases, I need to educate people that the PSU is the foundation of the PC, not a fast CPU, high end motherboard, RAM or GPU. This is after I learned what PSU they wanted to get.

More Issue when some people define good=expensive.

Honestly to be fair many user of pc especially from the pre-built system will not concerned about psu because it never be part of the advertised specifications as well as not much details in the user manual too.

Unless the user is adventurous to open up the case and check the PSU power and rating otherwise most of these specifications will surprised everyone how under power it was compared to the DIY power user even it was using high end GPU in the pre-built.

Or worse buy second hand PSU which have been used for maybe 5 - 10 years without warranty.
Some mindset is if PC can work can already no need to spend so much.
While some budget is focus on having the best graphic card but other parts especially PSU
are skimp.

I do saw builds with a high end graphic card but paired with PSU like FSP.
Need not name these builders, some may know who.

I am less concerned about pre-built systems. If Dell tells me they are using a 1000W PSU, I will just leave it be. If that PSU explodes and take the whole system down, they just have to replace the entire system for me since its their choice to use that brand. That's different for DIY unfortunately. If one crappy PSU explodes and takes the GPU from another distro down, the warranty on the GPU may not be honored due to physical damage.
