Bad batteries probably caused your power bill problems. The charge controller was likely trying to maintain a certain unreachablr voltage and was basically turning the UPS into a small room heater haha.

Can't remember if it was heating up.
Now hp can do hotspot compares to 20 years ago, don't see the need for ups.
