Have given up on the Xiaomi powerbank. Everytime out of stock.

Can anyone advise which brand is safer? I don't want to end up with a half past six brand that short circuits and fries my phone. My phone is 3000+ mAH so I guess a 10,000 one is more than enough. Or even 8,000 I guess.

What do you mean half past six and getting fried? :s22:

I only use a small pebble-shaped 5000 mAh Valore (Challenger in-house brand) powerbank which I got for less than half price (with their membership). It's my first power bank and it's still working great. Had it for several months already...

Quite convenient to have a powerbank. I may upgrade to bigger capacity early next year :)

It was reported that Valore had issued and was recalled. That is what I mean by getting fried.

There are many cheap powerbanks out there but I'm worried about how reliable they are.

Xiaomi's powerbank are cheap and decent, just have to be quick. Normally sales for powerbank starts a few minutes earlier than their phone sales. think 11:58am rather than 12pm. No harm trying. If you want other reputable brands, they costs a lot more. Take Anker for example.

I have the Anker Astro Slim 3 6000mAh and the Anker 2nd Gen Astro3 12000mAh, solid products. Charging speed, reliability, all there. But from what I know they aren't sold locally, at least when i bought them, had to import or buy from importers. Buy 1 Astro3 can probably get like 4 10400mAh Xiaomi's powerbank.

I also have the xiaomi power bank 5200mAh, also quite reliable. Charging speed a bit lose out to Anker, and has less USB ports, so only charge 1 device at a time. But if you don't need to charge that many devices at one go, xiaomi i think still have the most value for money power bank. It has local warranty, it's from a relatively reputable brand, and has been generally pretty reliable.

I tried those cheap brands too, or door gifts from companies, etc. All pretty crappy. Didn't damage phone or anything, but they tend to die pretty quickly (lose capacity).

Been unsuccessful at Xiaomi that's why I'm asking for recommendation for brands about the same price range of same quality and reliability.

I got an Anker. Great quality and reliability. Lasting well so far. Worth the $. Or you can buy multiple cheap Xiaomi (which is already widely thought of as best in class) and pay the price $ later.

I myself use XiaoMi power bank, so far so good, so far so safe. But personally, it can only charge my XiaoMi 2S for only one time before it drains. This upsets me a lot. Now myself prefer a solar power bank. Fantastic to get one. It seems that Kingsbuying provides enough selection in this line.

Your's is 5200 mAh I guess? According to Xiaomi website it can give one full charge to Mi 3 so I guess its around there.

I'm aiming for the 10,400 mAh as I find it more cost effective. Plus I'm hoping it can give 2 full charges or close to that to my Note Edge.

fyi, if you are struggling to buy xiaomi powerbanks at their time-limited online sales, you can consider getting from singtel hello shops; they are selling the 10400mah model at $19.90

19.90 for the Xiaomi powerbanks is a good deal.
Especially if just buying 1 set, the online price (incl shipping $5) is about the same.

Prefer the Xiaomi to my previous Yoobao 11000mAh powerbank, which was plagued with poor-fitting USB socket. Quite loose, and sometimes no charging connection.
