Just purchased my Xiaomi 10400 mAh powerbank from SingTel store cashier!... Can't believe the price..$19.90 only? Some name brand power bank of 6000 mAh on display selling at $89... Uh, no thanks.

Excited to go home and charge it up!

BTW I didn't see it being openly advertised like the pic here. I just asked the cashier and she said they have it. But I saw a redmi goodie pack for $19.90 on display. If you have a redmi note u might be interested. It has extra battery, battery charger, case and some other useful stuff.

EDIT: Saw on Mi site http://www.mi.com/sg/mipowerbank10400/ that it's $14 + $5 shipping... but out of stock. There is also 5200 version for $9 (also out of stock)

So I was looking at this official video from Mi (Xiaomi) on how to check if genuine product: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obYhTgzEVP8

Everything else checks out for the battery I bought from SingTel, but there's one thing I can't verify now coz... I was stupid enough to throw away the empty box immediately. :s13: :s22:

Did any of you who bought Xiaomi Powerbank from SingTel keep the box it came in? Does it have some sort of hologram-like scratch sticker on it?

Why would singtel sell fakes?

I went to many Singtel shops but i see none... :(
Did you ask? Apparently its not on display in all shops.

The nearest Hello shop to me is AMK Hub so will check it out this weekend. Hope they have it. $20 for a 10,000 mAh power bank which is of decent quality is dirt cheap. Even some never heard of brands cost close to $100 and its less than 10,000 mAh.

The 16,000 xiaomi is tempting but kinda big and I imagine heavier too.

JUST ASK.

Go up to the cashier and ASK for it. I bought three in SingTel Tampines Mall. I just bought two more yesterday, and the guy behind me bought three! He just went up to the cashier and said "I want three Xiaomi 10400 power banks."

It's not on display. It's in the cashier section, they just store it there and sell it to those who ask for it. It's really "word-of-mouth" advertising...

Why would singtel sell fakes?

Good point.. hahahaha. But the two more I bought doesn't have that scratch sticker on packaging. I think Xiaomi dropped that to reduce cost :s13:

It's 100g heavier, but it has two ports and looks like it comes with Lightning cable as well. sorry I think it's just 1 micro-USB cable. The Android device on their overview site looked like an iPhone at first, and that cable has a lightning symbol on it.

The SingTel shop I went to only has 10.4K and only in Silver, which I assume is true for all their shops. They have nothing else, not even the jacket. If you want 16K you will have to buy from elsewhere. It's OOS on mi.com ($29.99)

Compare specs: 16K, 10.4K

2A fast charging

Mi 10.4K specs said:
5.5 hrs with 5V/2A plug and standard cable
12 hrs with 5V/1A plug and standard cable

Does anyone have a 2A charger with supporting cable? Have you tried charging the power bank with it?

I noticed an Apple charger in my office is rated 2.1 A output. I have a 2A rated cable, which I will use with that charger borrowed to see if I can get my 10.4K charged up from 0-100 in 5.5 hours. I had the power bank left on my Samsung charger for 6-7 hours and it's not 50% yet!

Where can we get a quality 2A charger for cheap, so I don't end up buying an Apple charger? :s13: I wish Xiaomi also sold 2A charger block with a slightly longer short cable for like $5 or something as an "accessory" for their power bank. =:p

I have the 10400 bought online from the fast hand fast leg sale so CONFIRM is original. Charged with an iPad 2A charger bought from challenger so also CONFIRM original. I used a current meter to check how fast can charge the 10400... less than 1A... :(

You used ChargeDoctor? Where can I get one?

And one more thing, is the CABLE you're using a 2A rated cable? This is very important, as 1A chargers come with 1A cables. I purchased a 2A cable from Cygnett brand. I'm gonna get chargedoctor and test it out.

Is Thecoopidea a good brand?

I use the normal 2.4A port from thecoopidea charger block to charge thinkpad8, the current draw is 0.5A. If i plug into android support 2.4A port, current drawn will become 1.7A.

Using apple 2.4A charger to charge thinkpad8 will only draw 0.5A. But charging ipad will draw 2A.

Not all 2.4A chargers are equal, even branded. I charge my Anker powerbank E3 10000mah with Anker 5 ports on a Monoprice 28/24AWG cable in 6 hours 45mins drawing 1.9A at 5v. I use my Samsung s4 charger to charge the same powerbank with same cable in 6 hours 0 mins drawing 2.1A at 5.3v.

My iPhone 1A charger come with the cable can be use to charge iPad at 2A.

Thecoopidea is good if you need to charge many devices at the same time.

Bro, I think you may be right!! That indeed I didn't even think about! I used the original cable that came with my iphone 5.. that should be 1A cable ya? Yay now I got new hope to fast charge the 10400 now! Just got to hunt for a 2A cable to try... Thanks very much for your idea!

The current test thing you can get from SLS cheap.. less than $10 and really useful so I highly recommend. Not only in this situation, but you can also use to check which charger adapter is more powerful if you have quite a few. You might be surprised some chiong ones can actually put out a decent charge current!

Thanks I'll go look around for it in SLS soon.

Look for cygnett 2A cables.. Challenger sells for $20 (before 10% membership discount)... There is also thecoopidea 2A cables for $15 but I didn't feel safe buying because the 2A rating is stated on a sticker, not on the box itself.

The cables matter like water pipes. No use if your new water pump is twice as powerful as the old one, if the pipes are still the old small ones you still get the same amount of water. You need to change to bigger pipes.
