Thank you for sharing and your comments. Is there a lot of savings as compared to going public or private? I guess public is you need to queue longer etc right? The key differences would be the delivery fees in public hospital as compared to private like TMC? Appreciate any kind comments and feedback. Thank you.
It really depends on your budget and wife preference... My wife only wants private as her cousin all use private and recommend her their gynae.. public definitely have longer waiting time for each appointment and I believe every appointment is see different doctor.. kk also have private option.. actually it's all about cost/budget.. if have budget of course private will be more comfortable..

For your reference, my wife delivered at gleneagles 2 bedder natural birth with epidural. Cash around 5k+.. whole pregnancy including check up, package, delivery and all the pills maybe close to 10k.

I know people going for last min c-sec and it cost like 15k for the delivery. So do plan your finances as well. You don't want your wife to stress over money with you when she needs to worry about the newborn

Btw I know people going public (polyclinic then nuh/kk) 6 or 8 bedders kind. Only few hundred cash for delivery.. so yes, the price difference is quite big.

For pregnancy, there are key milestones 12-14 weeks scan and 20 weeks scan, so waiting time is moot.

Dear all, wife have missed period by 8 days and we have just tested the pregnancy kit and it shows positive. Not sure the accuracy of this ClearBlue kit though, but since we are into week 5/6 right now, should we directly look for a gynae now and make an appointment to confirm the pregnancy etc? Or should we go to GP clinic first to confirm and then gynae. Very nervous now as yes, first timer dad. Looking forward to any kind advices.

congrats!

I am in a very similar boat with you although it will be my 2nd child.

look forward to some fun years ahead!

Thank you for the comments. How would the budget compare if visiting a public hospital but as private, to directly straight to privates like TMC.
I can tell you that my wife in TMC, planned c-sec (due to breech baby) 1-bedder all in was around 12k delivery cost (but I forgot what percentage was cash and what was medisave lol).

End of the day it boils down to your wife and your preference and financial position. Private then you can choose gynae and stick with the same one from day 1 (or ... week 8), so there is some additional comfort from having a familiar face throughout the whole 7 months.
