[Printer] Laser Printer questions lip lai !!!

Hello,

I am currently using Fuji Xerox CM215 fw. Over the years, the printing has deteriorated and the scanner glass has gotten dirty, causing scans to be dirty too. I am planning to replace the printer. May I know what is the replacement model for it?

I am also hoping that the replacement model uses the same toner cartridge as the CM215. This is because I have a few cartridges that I have bought as spare units.

Does anyone know what is the issue for ghosting and smudge mark?

my printer is a HP M1212NF.

It has only 1 printer cartridge, comprising of the OPC and magnetic roller.

There is another component, which is the lower pressure fuser, together with the film sleeve, which is installed within the printer itself.

I did a check online, and it seems that the ghosting (double image) is caused by the OPC, whereas the smudging is caused by the lower pressure fuser.

Hope some expert can advice

IMHO.
If the printing on the paper does not smudge, replace the toner cartridge.
The drum (cartridge) is responsible for the image. The fuser (printer) makes it permanent.

P.S. You recycle paper to use and use refill or non-original toner ?

thanks for confirming. I was trying to guess the cause from what I found from the net.

the cartridge is original. but I'm not sure whether it's refill or not, cos I picked up the printer from the void deck. hehe yah, I recycled the paper.

I think I'll dismantle the cartridge, clean it up and see whether the imaging will improve.

the fuser is really a hassle to replace, as it's not a replaceable item.

Print that and have a look.
With that history, likely is the print cartridge issue.
The previous owner might have encountered the same issue and discarded it.

just checked the cartridge has 820 page count to it. will be heeding your advice to get a 3rd party cartridge first.

yah, I think the owner disposed it because of the fuser/smudging problem, as it's not a plug and install parts.

IMHO.
You may want to use IPA to clean the drum and see if that helps.

replaced with a refurbished cartridge and the smudge and ghosting are gone. but there seems to have 2 faint block of vertical roll print. but can make do with that.

IMHO.
Maybe at the fuser area.
You can try to print half way and turn off the printer. Then take a look if the lines are on the drum !
Anyway, proceed with caution.
