So my PRISM+ Q55-QE PRO finally came. AMA.

It’s okay. I just set it to Movie Mode for Picture settings and be done with it. Vivid, Standard and Sports modes too much for me. The sound ain’t fantastic as expected. Good enough to watch free-to-air channels and Viu. A bit annoying to redeem the 30+60 days premium subscription. I can’t tell when my premium subscription expires.

One thing I like about the TV is that I set the number keypad according to channels’ numbers e.g. 5 for Channel 5. The downside I cannot set Channel 8 to 8 because there’s only 6 Mediacorp channels. Maybe I missed out something,

Any source to sample Dolby Vision and Atmos features? YouTube ones? I will resubscribe to Netflix next month. Will go play with the TV later.

Originally, I placed the TV on the ceramic floor using the supplied stand. I raised it up to a foot with a universal TV stand and the TV sounds louder and better. Anything more than 15% volume level, it will be loud.
May I know How much did u pay for the 55in pro qe .. if it’s sensitive u can msg me

I too prefer close to stock Android TV or Google TV. PRISM+ v10 right now. I’m already toying with v12 on some hack box. Sadly, no Netflix for hack box unless I sideload. VIU has issues. Maybe you want to look at Sony. I’m not prepared to pay the price for something I’m not using. And I have only one rule, the bigger the screen the better regardless of distance. The problem with 65" is the width of the TV is around 1.45m and my partition wall is 1.58m. I afraid someone will knock the TV. 55" is 1.2m with enough space by the sides. But it goes against my one rule - bigger is better

I gave away my Xiaomi P1 55 inch TV to my family member in different household. Then bought a 50 inch LG normal led 4k tv. Regretted didn't buy Sony instead. But then Sony is so ex, like possibly twice the price of my LG.
LG interface is quite ok, just the dark scenes always hard to watch.

Damn those cinematographers!
:ROFLMAO:
Nowadays, with prices like LG, Samsung and Sony, I will just go for brands like PRISM+, TCL, iFFALCON or Hisense. After my recent PRISM+ TV purchase, I’m considering getting PRISM+ PC monitors. The two Philips 27" PC monitors I bought about a year ago now have this line on the screen. BOTH!!! Damn pissed. First one appeared on Sunday and the second monitor the next day. Both same batch. I believe the monitor has a 3-year warranty. Not sure onsite or have to bring down to service centre at Toa Payoh. Not sure worth repairing. Maybe I should go for a Samsung M8. Or just buy a cheap PRISM+ monitor and be done with.
My current prism+ monitor seems to have problem with the pc. Like use halfway can blackout then need to restart. Not sure is monitor or the pc problem.

That requires a 85" TV for good 4k viewing... 65" will look tiny..
The banding / envelop of Netflix cuts into the real estate of the viewing so bigger is better. But some k drama plays on full screen so 85 may be over whelm

still think 65 may be a good option but the asking of 1k more in some case from 55 to 65 is quite a stretch. If u break it down into per year depreciation until it kuput would be 333 per year assuming on yr 3 + one day it dies after the warranty.
Still trying the weight the benefits of 60hz oled vs Hisense 120 hz oled n the asking of 400 delta from prism+.
as the saying goes, when you least expects it. My second tv died on me.

If price is paramount, don't think too hard about picture quality, user interface and such..

You don't notice many questions on OS, apps, and other issues on the Sony thread for example....
But a whole lot more on the Xiaomi, TCL, and other threads..
It may be better to get an external box if all those apps matter. But you can't demand too much on picture quality if price requirements supercede all.

Just that there are alternative to Prism at the same price range. And their prices are 'always' on sale, who ever pays retail for their stuff?

Update on PRISM+ Q55-QE PRO. Doing my rotation on TV streamers subscription. Netflix, this month.

Dolby Atmos, you really need a compatible sound bar. I did expect this even before I made the purchase. Since most of the viewings are dramas and comedies, I don’t see a need for one.

Today, Dolby Vision. As expected, the Q55-QE PRO does not handle it well. Colours look weird with DV. So if you have expectations for DV contents, you may want to give QE/QE PRO range a pass.

Update: Seem like Dolby Atmos not detected when I play both Dolby Vision and Atmos Netflix content. Will check again tomorrow.
Wonder if oled will fair any better as the max nits brightness is also below 500nits

I won’t expect much from PRISM+. With Netflix Dolby Vision content, I can choose DV Bright, Dark or Vivid for Picture Mode setting. Vivid is the better colour setting among the three but the colours are still weird. And I don’t fancy vivid colours. I wish PRISM+ showroom could demo Netflix/Disney+ when requested. They can’t run Netflix/Disney+ all day long because of copyright and exhibition license issues, I think. I can’t say whether OLED will fair better. Hope some other owners here can chip in.

Any PRISM+ TV owners running Netflix Dolby Vision • Atmos content, do you get the Atmos icon on the top left with Vision? My TV doesn’t seem to detect Atmos. Chat with support and they ask me do a factory reset which I did. Still no go. Will email them tomorrow.

I’m not bothered by all the shortcomings. It’s like watch and forget for me. It’s just TV.
U may need to see if there is a chat group for sample calibration.. btw is there no cinema or filmmaker mode for prism ?
On a separate note on the Hisense chat, I was trying to no avail for Dolby Atmos for Netflix. Little did I realize there is two tier of subscription. Mine was the basic one so boh kangtao lol

Most of Prime Videos are of HDR10 flavour. Did you managed to get 4K(UHD) playback. I can't seem to get that resolution. Online search suggest its the Android app bug?

Guys, do u all have Samsung Q800B soundbar connected to Prism+ QE PRO via Hdmi ARC?
It seem like it cannot passthrough Dolby Atmos or 5.1Ch.

There should be option for PCM or Dolby Digital under SPDIF settings, you might try there.

Don't think they false advertise other than calling their a few TV QE which sounds like QLED.

If you want brighter tv that can possibly handle dark scenes, you can consider Sony or Hisense' latest models as they normally make their Tv bright.

I just installed the digital antenna (that came with the TV) for my new Prism TV. Scanned/set the channels and everything was fine. Switched off the TV, and when I switched it on again an hour later, screen display is ok but no sound.
  • Youtube sound: OK
  • Menu scroll sound effect: OK
I decided to try a 3rd party antenna and the result is the same. Switched tv on and off, toggled speaker on and off, checked sound settings bla bla still same.

Anyone has any idea what the issue is?

@alphau
1. Re-scanned, still same 😐
2. Guess I will send in a ticket.
3. Ah yes yes, my daughter did that and they been watching through meWatch. Just so weird why the sound would suddenly disappear in DVB-T/T2 mode 😕
