90,000 PHV vehicles already, massive COE price spike due to unrestrained financing loopholes.

After so many years, PAP is still monitoring? Time for a change?!

As long as COE remain high and rising, these companies will continue to revalue their used car higher than the purchase price.

Thus, any leasing will be a profit. Sit in their carpark will not lose much money also.

They have been cornering the COE price for so long.

Then again. We trusted our LTA to continue to monitor the situation closely...

Why not just do a survey.

Find 3 to 5 different spots and count the 10 cars that drive pass u, count how many are PHV or taxi.
Get the average number to know how many are there. :o
This kind of observation not accurate. PHV more likely to be constantly on the road than personal vehicles which drive to destination and park liao… in the same vein, u go carpark count the cars, see more PHV or not.

And yet the transport ministers said there's no evidence high COE prices were caused by PHV and their financing loopholes?

bro it's 10% right? is your info outdated?

Less than 10% of Category A and B COEs won by car leasing firms in latest exercise after new rules on private-hire cars

The problem is, closing this loophole means a lot of marginal owners will not be able to get the financing to own a car.

it’s not PHV companies per se but it’s the marginal owners
Need to impose LTV and ssd/bsd/absd for coes

That's why I say...these groups like carros. They are powerful can confidently snap up coes every month.

Just find ways to loan or lease it out. They can move it around to the other of their kakis groups too. Expensive also nevermind to them, more expensive more exclusive! Sure have takers one.

Singapore is a price taker they say, Singaporeans are also price takers!
Ya carro had Temasek munny somemore. Use your own munny pwn you

This is a scam perpetrated against the citizens of Singapore.
The PHCV register the car COE.
Then a very short while later sell away the cars. Earn a big sum of money.
How they earn the big sum of money? They also need to pay coe when they buy.

I’m not understanding why more PHV is bad. If there are no PHV there will be more people buying own car right? Like for my family we get by exclusively by PHV. If grab don’t exist I would need to buy own car.

PHV is a thing created by MIW to so call lower unemployment rate and make the numbers look nice. They say can “help” people own car and have a job. But they don’t bother if the COE increases to 100k because what’s wrong with collecting more money.
Another situation is with the electric bikes and PMDs on the roads, implement things without creating laws to control them. No COE no control so they anyhow run on the roads. These people still can have jobs and deliver food.

If there is a need for so many PHVs, the picture paints a very gloomy outlook. A lot more sinkies are being retrenched or are not able to get a stable job and are now driving PHVs to make a living.
