Help!! And i suppose to just pay him the ridiculous amount?

Unfortunately, that's how private settlement works. You mutually agree to a number. If you feel it's too high/unfair, negotiate with the guy. If can't agree, can't settle and usually people get insurance involved.

What I'd do is get quotes from a couple decent workshops for the repair to his car and tell him that's the fair amount and you'll pay that for him plus perhaps an hourly rate for travel expenses during downtime if less than a day or a capped daily rate if he pushes for more than just repair cost.

That might or might not help depending on what was recorded..

Rear cameras usually cover the entirety of the bootlid and taillights. If the bike side swiped him from behind and damaged the taillight, there's really no question, IMHO, about who the video will help. Unless the car suddenly started coming out of lane as the bike was passing through resulting in contact but the poster didn't mention anything as such. :o

Based on what you said, it’s very suspicious of him to manage that way. No pictures taken at scene and wanted to make a claim, isn’t that dubious?

Let him make police report then..

This does seem slightly odd. The no photos part, I can understand if there's video. People still take photos but that's really a slightly dated practice from a time people had cameras on them but not on their car. Of course still good to take outside photos for reference sake but I hardly think it's any use if you have footage of it occurring.

What I find odd is the reluctance of the driver to exchange contact info and his supposed desire to just move off from there asap. A number of possibilities, he could have just underestimated the damage and been in a rush, he could be doing something illegal, he could be driving the car unauthorised(also illegal). Could be a lot of other things also. :s13: just peculiar behaviour.

Intelligent answer.
What does a rear camera record?
The weather of Singapore?

The reason I mentioned about the footage might or might not help because it has to show a decently clear info of several required info including registration number and point of impact. If basic info such as these were not present, the footage is superfluous.

Hi new rider here. I would appreciate if i could get some advice from here. :)

Recently i got into an accident. My bike handle bar hit a honda car tail light and it has a small hole. The driver came out check the car and said it’s ok. However, i was being kind enough to exchange phone number. (i wanted to apologise sincerely, i kinda panic and didn’t know what to do as it was my first accident, pardon me) He kept insisting it’s fine but end up exchanging numbers and left the scene with no pictures taken of the damaged. But he had a rear camera that recorded it. After I apologised via text, he decided to send a picture of the damange and ask me to pay for it. I didn’t mind paying if it’s around my budget range but the quotation he got back to me was so ridiculous. He even insisted me to pay for his 2 working days of his pay as he can’t drive. Fyi, he isn’t a taxi driver, not a grab driver, he just rent a company car from his housing agent company. I even offered him to fix his tail light at my friend’s workshop but he said his company didn’t allow that. Then he started asking for my driving license and vehicle number, all these should be done at the scene but he said it’s ok. Only now then he want to claim from me. He knows my vehicle number but he does not have any picture of my identification cards, i refuse to give him but he said it’s against the law not to exchange each other’s particulars when an accident happen. I told him i’m only willing to pay him certain amount, but obviously he wasn’t pleasant as it was $200 lesser than what he wanted. So he said he would file a police report on me. Nobody got injured, i only had a bit of scratches on my left but it’s fine.

Help!! And i suppose to just pay him the ridiculous amount?

Advantage or disadvantage, let's face it when it happened.

Be a gentleman to own up the mistake as intended right from the start mah.

Rider mentioned he want to be sincere with his apologies but when come to asking for payment; rider become insincere immediately?

Lets be reasonable as his car was being bang and got damage by rider; of course must pay for it right?
*Look down at those who suggest ignoring this accident as thou it never happen @,@

And unless rider wanted to be deem as "hit-and-run", he may opt to pay a "higher price" for doing so.

The driver can deem as reasonable enough to ask for more if it takes his time to go repair it(adding it is not his personal car too mentioned in that story?).

If not agreeable with the amount he need for the repair, ALLOW him to claim your insurance.

Don't play punk and make others run up and down for your mistake as thou as he is earning a fortune out from you.

This is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events, is purely coincidental.

Hi new driver here. I would appreciate if i could get some advice from here.

Recently I got into an accident. My car was hit by a bike. I went out to check and realised that my left rear tail light had a small hole. The biker exchanged phone number with me. I was panicky and didn’t know what to do as it was my first accident, pardon me. So, I insisted it was fine, exchanged phone numbers, and left the scene without taking any photographs. My rear camera had recorded the impact. When the biker sent an apology text, I sent a picture of the damage and requested for payment. I also requested him to compensate me for being unable to drive my car rented from a housing agent company for two working days. I rejected the biker’s offer to fix my tail light at his friend’s workshop as my company disallows unauthorised workshops. I started to ask for his driving license, vehicle number, etc. I know all these should have been done at the scene. I want to claim from the biker now. I have his bike vehicle number but I don’t have any picture of his identification card as he had refused to give me then even after I told him it is against the law not to exchange particulars after an accident. He is willingly to pay only a certain amount which is $200 less than what I want. I am going to file a police report against him. I was uninjured but the biker suffered minor scratches.

Help! Should I just accept his amount?

Fair enough, I suppose if the camera was of poor quality or due to traffic/angle the video doesn't show the plate, it's less useful. Although I don't know why we're going through this if the poster has conceded fault. It goes down to what is fair compensation, to me. Not if there is enough proof to evade making restitution for my mistake. :o :)

Don't play punk and make others run up and down for your mistake as thou as he is earning a fortune out from you.

:deg: That's something that separates a punk from an adult. Got too many man-children running around thinking and claiming SAF made them into a real man  but when it comes to taking responsibility, become only thing SAF taught them is act blur take cover. :s13:

Amongst other things, a rear camera is capable of recording a tongue licking lips on a sweltering afternoon.

Cyclist hits lorry’s side mirror after getting honked at, then gets sideswiped in Pasir Ris

Cyclist is a sh!thead, will get charged and fined for property damage....
Lorry driver...using a vehicle as a weapon? Over a damaged mirror? I foresee a fully sponsored vacay at Changi for him. :o

The lorry driver had, nevertheless, painted a “agony of the moment” defence while the cyclist had given no defence.

Overall, it was a rather entertaining video and it must have been a rejoicing day for many motorists.

this is totally uncalled for! dont you think the cyclist is very arrogant? anger management issue? & did he chose to risk other road users on the road? :s13::s13:

The cyclist looked adorable, not arrogant at all.
And the way he somersaulted on the pavement and quickly got up on his feet was admirable.

Now, both are slated for some Mr Manhunt prizes to be given away in 2019 with the cyclist as Mr Photogenic & Mr Enthusiatic, and the lorry driver as Mr Character & Mr Popularity, neither as Mr Intelligent though.

Cyclist and lorry driver in viral Pasir Ris altercation charged in court

SINGAPORE - A lorry driver and cyclist allegedly involved in an altercation in Pasir Ris - captured in two videos that went viral - were charged in court on Wednesday (Jan 16).

Lorry driver Teo Seng Tiong, 57, faces two charges.

He is accused of causing hurt to cyclist Eric Cheung Hoyu, 35, by negligently failing to keep a proper lookout while overtaking him.

Teo's actions resulted in him encroaching into the path of a taxi on his right, thus causing him to swerve left and collide into Cheung, court documents stated.

The maximum punishment is a jail term of six months and a $2,500 fine.

The driver faces a second charge of failing to make a police report within 24 hours of the accident, which occurred at about 11.55am on Dec 22 last year along Pasir Ris Drive 3.

The offence carries a fine of up to $1,000 or up to three months' jail for a first offender.

Cheung, a British national, also faces two charges.

He is accused of committing mischief by knocking off the side mirror of Teo's lorry with his hand, causing damage of $15.

The maximum punishment is a year's jail and a fine.

Cheung is also charged with breaching traffic rules by riding his bicycle in the middle of the leftmost lane, instead of keeping to the far left edge of the road, thereby causing obstruction to faster-moving vehicles.

A first offender faces a fine of up to $1,000 or up to three months' jail.

Teo's lawyer, Mr Chia Boon Teck, told the magistrate's court that his client was prepared to plead guilty in a week's time, adding that he will be asking the prosecution to consider taking one of the two charges into consideration.

The case was fixed for Teo to plead guilty on Jan 30.

Cheung's lawyer asked for the case to be adjourned so that he can discuss the case with his client and take instructions.

The court approved Cheung's request to leave Singapore to attend a planned family reunion in Hong Kong between Jan 17 and 22. Additional bail of $10,000 was imposed.

His case will be mentioned again on Jan 30.

Teo and Cheung did not have any interactions in court.
