Problem/s with Win8 - Post Here !

I installed window 8 with clean install. I having this bug which is headache for me. I cant key in @ when I press shift + 2 keys. so everytime I have to copy from web and paste. what makes me relif was lucky Microsoft allow local log in. else I doubt I can use windows 8.

anyone else having this problem?

Regional setting could be English(UK), try change it to English(Singapore).

just one more question. if I do an upgrade. do I have to reinstall my applications? like css6, visual studio all these?

as I had a bad experience in windows 7. I did an upgrade at windows 7 with my old laptop, but all programs stopped running even I have it in the window.old file

To install drivers, one got to change the compatibility for setup.exe to Windows 7.

It installs fine but after every reboot, the mode will be changed to Gaming mode and 2.1 speaker setting.

Found a work around and will try it tonight.

Other than that, suprisingly my old laserjet HP 1020 worked with win 7 drivers.

During upgrade, it should advise you whether any applications compatibility issue. Some applications require reinstall, other application may need upgrade to latest version.

Audio cards are always touchy. My Creative cards had trouble when moving from XP > Vista and Vista > 7. Heng, this round Creative's Win 8 beta drivers work for me. (But if you check Creative forum, some ppl not as lucky)

Rest of my components all no issues. Win 7 drivers shld work 99% of the time on Win 8.

Laptops can get quite touchy because some OEMs customize components instead of using standard parts and only they can release the driver - so if they are slow, then gg. They have no incentive to update anyways, they rather you buy a new laptop from them.

Set it to English US/Singapore... It would have been the same if your win 7 was in english UK

Mine is always boot up and the USB ports at the back of my desktop PC all not working, USB 2.0 and 3.0 inclusive. The 2 front USB 2.0 is working fine all the time. I had to reboot many times before it work and it happened a few times already and seems to be Asus mobo like another guy with the same issue that posted on the MS forum. He said it has to do with one of the MS update. So far i've uninstalled the update but haven't reboot yet. Will report back if it work.

itunes unable to detect itunes after install win 8

I am having problems with the app store cannot view any apps plus all the live id apps does not display anything, keeps searching on a blank screen.
Internet connection no problems.
The stock tile displays the ST index but when expended its blank.
News tile does not work
I have signed on using my windows id and not local id so not sure whats the problem, also disabled my firewall to no avail.
Upgraded from windows 7 pro.
Any help would be appreciated

Try switching to a Local account, reboot, then switch back to your Microsoft Account.

Don't install Mcafee Internet Security. It messed up my Win8 twice requiring the DVD setup disk to do refresh repair.

I believe in uk keyboard their @ sign is not on the numeric 2 button but its at ; button...either change English Singapore or English USA solves the problem....

Tried switching to local login and disabling mcfree still having the
Same problem. It's driving me nuts, also tried refreshing and it did not work cos it need permission for the windows folder. Microsoft is driving me nuts.

What is your audio device name. Probably a driver issue.

You have to explain this. Don't really get what you mean by 'itunes unable to detect itunes'.

Check for updated chipset drivers for your motherboard. I've seen this error a few times. Updated mobo drivers usually fix it.

Do you have any form of security / system utilities software Norton/Mcafee/Avast/etc running?

This guy disabled Avast and everything was ok.
Brand new windows 8 upgrade install live tiles do nothing

I would suggest not installing current copies of the above because they do mess up Windows if they are not specifically written for Win 8. Plus, Win 8's in built security (Firewall, Antivirus, Antimalware) is more than sufficient for normal users.
