Anyone bought Carbon rings as their wedding bands?

We saw a pair of Furrer Jacot carbon ring at Lee Hwa.. very nice but cost over $5k.. Rose gold with carbon..

What are the considerations if choosing between platinum or rose gold?

Does JP do carbon fiber ring?
Thank you!

Hi All,

I'm making this post to clarify some of the matters regarding certain comments made to question JannPaul's credibility and ethics.

We have made some investigations on our part and will like to clarify the following:

1) Yes, we can affirm that some HardwareZone accounts have been illegally transferred for the purpose of malicious intent against JannPaul.

2) The aforementioned HardwareZone accounts in #1 have been permanently banned and we have obtained legal advise on how we may proceed to press charges against the involved parties for the breach of the following Clause(s) in HardwareZone's Member Terms and Conditions:

2. User Name, Password, Account Information
2.1 You agree that your Account is for your sole, personal use (or that of the entity on whose behalf you are entering into these Member Conditions). You hereby agree not to:

2.1.1 share with or permit others to use your Account or Password (defined in Clause 2.3); or
2.1.2 assign or otherwise transfer your Account to any other person or entity.
You acknowledge and agree that any unauthorised sharing or disclosure of your Password will cause wrongful loss to SPH and constitutes an offence under Section 8 of the Computer Misuse Act (Cap. 50A).

3) Further investigation is underway to curb this issue. HardwareZone will be introducing changes to ensure more accountability for member accounts

4) We will like to remind all members that HardwareZone takes the transfer of account very seriously and will not hesitate to take the strictest action against members who breach the Computer Misuse Act.

For 0.6 to 0.66 G color and Vs2, yes u can get it at around 4k - 4.5k.

But i wouldn't recommend G color because it appears to be yellowish. Lowest grade to go for will be F.

VS2 and VVS 2 appears no different under naked eyes so no worries.

i assume the diamond u go for is JP's ideal cut.

Personally when i saw the solasfera vs their ideal cut, the solasfera stand out more and the price of it is around 10 - 15% premium of their ideal cut.

Just tell them ur budget and they will get something to your liking. Not pushy at all.

I just got mine but just a 0.55 solasfera :s13:

My god wanted 0.7 but that would eat into another range bracket with additional 2000 normally.. So I am thinking of the bracket 0.6-0.69 around 4k.. Hmm ya I am gg for super ideal cut.. I am quite confused with GIA triple excellence which JP said its much more cheaper than super ideal card but more expensive than a normal GIA cert diamond...

I think Colour is more important though the cut determine the price more.. Naked eyes can't see the impurities but will cause chipping easily.

Just hope can get 4k for around .62 carat, triple excellent should b fine, FG Colour ..

What is the difference vvs2 and vs2

If i am not wrong VVS2 and vs2 are referring to the conditional inside the diamond. There maybe some defect like abit crack here and there while cutting the diamond etc. However they are too small to be noticeable unless u are talking about big and deep cuts that are viable to naked eyes. Under normal circumstances, you wouldn't be able to differentiate between a VS2 or VVS2 unless the cut is near to the corner of the diamond which then will cause the diamond to chip easily.

To clarify, i personally dont think the cut of the diamond is a contributing factor to whether the diamond will chip or dont chip. Diamond itself is 1 of the hardest stone and i believe many female do washing etc with their diamond without chipping the diamond unless u are telling me they work in a construction site. The cut will determine how "Blink" the diamond is. there are some videos posted by JP that show the different "Blink-ness" of individual cuts.

I would suggest go for F color if possible... Once in a life time ya haha u wouldn't want your SO 's diamond to appear yellowish when walk with her friends lol

Your above replies were all mentioned before and yup understood bout closer to edge and chipping..

So I clarity get a lower grade vvs2? Or vs2? Which is cheaper grade since I am not concern and ppl don't carry microscope around..
And personally I feel the Colour is important but alot of times when I went in shop to view, Colour F and G not much difference..
I guess my specs with JP would be

-VS2 or VVS2 which ever is cheaper
-Colour like u said F Colour, if too ex I will consider G
-super ideal cut (above GIA triple excellent)
-0.62 carat
-4k if can get...

Besides all above, I just want to know more about Jann Paul, who r they and why are they house under House of Hung jewellwey and can only set appt to view their diamonds unlike the rest can just walk in..?

What is the specialty of JP that customers turn to them instead of lee hwa, Tiffany etc. one thing of course minus branding. I can only see JP blog but not official webbie.

JP requires appt? Guess I'm one of the rare walk-ins and committed on the spot at a very good price.

a good guess is ...jannpaul, either 1 is the son of mr Hung. If i am not wrong jannpaul owner Mr paul 's surname also hung. So most prob father owns the shop but son decided to bring it to another level by targeting more high end customer.

I am not getting my ring from those branded retailer is due to the premium paid to the branding. I am a realistic person and NON cash rich guy. If i am poor, i go for quality instead of brand.

I went to many retailer b4 i visit jannpaul and decided that jannpaul is the one. I remember walking into those shop like tiffany, lee hwa etc with shirts and berm and nobody entertain me. I look like a kid despite that i am near 30 so i guess they dont think i have the capacity to purchase lol.

the answers to all your questions can be found on this thread. read the pages and you will know.

to save your time.. JP is very popular thus fixing an appointment is required. each appointment could last 2-3hrs. JP have around 5 staff only thus they cannot entertain everyone who walk in...

vs2, vs1 is cheaper than vvs2, vvs1. if you compare JP diamonds, there is a huge difference between F and G colour - thats for me.

JannPaul (JP) is located at House of Hung because Paul is the son of the boss of House of Hung. They save $$$ on shop rent and thus we benefit from them for good diamonds with cheaper price compared to retail shops and international brands.

Hi guys, need advice.

This stone is a 1.10C 3x. With a HCA 1.2 rating
Is it worth getting it at $17.5k?

GIA 2151110509

Even without the Aset Image for further analysis, the proportion itself doesnt qualify as Super Ideal due to the table size of 59.

For an Ideal 1.1ct F VS1 3EX H&A, the lowest you can get from private jewellers should be less than SGD14k.

If i'm not mistaken you are the one who bought the 1.16ct G VS2 from Yee Poh before. I doubt their 3EX is in the top range of 3EX.

Bluenile has got pretty decent rings and diamonds.

you might want to give them a try, they ship via fedex.
The hardest part would be figuring out the correct ring size. haha

I got my ring from them back in 2009.

Price wise definitely cheaper than the local retailers.

One thing to note though, you have to pay GST when you ship it in. So do note that in your calculation.

I got a marquise cut diamond , vs2. 0.52 carat, cut ( very good ) E colour.

around 3.3k plus gst and the setting.

Some Private Jewellers in Singapore offer even better price than Bluenile for the same proportion of stones. Do note the lowest price from the list of Bluenile are generally from the bottow range of 3EX which are steep and deep cut.

More importantly a few of them do provide Aset scope for analysis. I believe most of us do not feel comfortable when buying diamond without seeing the diamond in person unless Aset Scope Image & Ideal Scope Image is given prior to order confirmation.

Hi guys,

I have question as I have been done research and compare a lot but not able to decide between tiffany and JP.

My main concern was whenever I went down to Tiffany and look at the e-ring. It looks beatiful and flawless. Lets talk about the ring itself, I felt that tiffany ring look very beautiful and very smooth. But when I take a look at JP ring setting, the ring itself look abit rough. I can see the lines in the ring like the polishing is not perfect, but tiffany ring look very smooth. The point is that engagement ring is that it look beautiful right, not about the size?

What even cause me dillema is that I just visited tiffany at the airport and is no gst + now changi airport has 6% rebate. Price comparison become:

Jp: 0.86 D vvs2 + platinum setting ard 13k (i can get gst rebate)
Tiff: 0.86 G vvs2 + all in = 14.5k

Is 2k different.

I not particular about brand , jp diamond when I see it , is better than tiffany but overall with the ring design tiffany does look much more beautiful and best workmanship. My question is that is it really jp ring setting workmanship is not as good or the one in the store havent been polished? Or platinum is better than white gold?

Thx for taking time reading my post.
