Is this a good deal?

Super ideal cut
0.41 e vs2 $3900 includes setting
0.41 f vs1 $4000 includes setting
0.371 g vvs2 $2250
0.36 f vs1 $2000

The setting i choose cost around $1k+

Just want to know if i want to upgrade for her but i want the setting can i just sell the diamond not the setting ?

The difference can be explained from the Aset scope.
Brilliant rose has light leakages = less bright
The blue part (arrows) are very thin.. that's where a diamond's fire comes from.
Less blue = less fire

The lack of blue contrast and light leakages is a bad combo

Ya.. can see quite a big diff..

I got a 0.4ct too but the Cushion Brellia.. current prices are about there..

If you sell the diamond, what for you keep the setting? it will be empty le.. but I guess you can do that too.. lol.

Proposal Ring - JP

Decided to share my experince with JP as this thread helped me quite a fair bit. Just came back from my appointment with them and placed my deposit. was served by a guy called Vince. This is what they've quoted me without settings:

Loose Diamond

0.61 (Ideal Cut)
E
VS1
$5800

0.62 (Ideal Cut)
F
VVS2
$5700

0.637 (Solasfera)
F
VS2
$6500 (Decided to get this)

Service was good. Though the person serving me was talking really fast, maybe that's because prior to the 'knowledge transfer session' from them I told them I did my research. Vince told me between the two Ideal Cut, he would get the $5700 (the cheaper one) because it has the least inclusion. But the Solasfera Cut spoiled the market compared to the other two. When the diamond size is bigger, the Solasfera Cut really stands out.

Settings:
My gf don't fancy those rings with mini-diamonds on it, so they quote me $550 for simple setting, 18k white gold (without any mini-diamonds). I brought 2 different ring designs and ask them for the price. As my design is more complex (european classic design), they quoted me $850 for it. Ask them to pass me the 3D Render for the two designs I provided so that I may compare and choose. They will get back to me with the 3D renders and the diamond's ASET print in 2 weeks time.

Overall good buying experience. Btw, saw an older post stated that cash payment is 2% cheaper. Its not the case now. Cash, NETs, Credit card no price difference.

Hope this helps.

Proposal preparations

First off, many thanks to fellow brothers here who have contributed to this thread. Appreciate your comments as they helped me prepare better in these fresh new experiences of getting a ring.

I was served by Jerome, who was ever patience about my multiple requests and questions. I sat through about 4 hours in total with him across 3 sessions and there was never an issue about how long I took to discuss about the diamond and setting design.

Loose Diamond
Initially looked at:
0.61 G VS2 (Super Ideal Round)
0.61 F VS2 (Super Ideal Round)
Both diamonds itself - $5k+

Later on I compared:
0.61 D VS2 (Super Ideal Round)
0.61 F VS2 (Solasfera Round) - Decided on getting this
Price is similar to what bro baubausaur posted just earlier at $6k+, the shine and sparkles on solasfera was just better even in normal lighting without any scopes or equipment.

Settings
Design was about another $1k will show you guys pics and feedback on it once I receive.

Appreciate what Jerome and JP offered in terms of quality diamonds and service excellence. So far so good, look forward to the 3D render in 2 weeks.

I second what has been mentioned by bro baubausaur, no discount for cash payment anymore it seems. Price quoted was reasonable, cheaper than retailers from usual shopping malls for the same standard of gem.

Happy to share these with you bros. :)

Congrats congrats! It does stand out doesn't it? Initially I went for the ideal cut, but changed my mind at the very last minute before payment:p

Just FYI in case you are in the same shoes as me. I was told I would get the scope images 2 weeks later. I email them and requested to get it asap (too excited), they replied and will accommodate to my request. So yea! the service quality is definitely there :)

Hi all, i took me a year to finally make the decision. And the one who helped me speed up the process is actually my partner.
I brought her to JP and had Rei ran through the tutorial for my partner to understand the specs in Super Ideal Cut.

The reason why i brought her to JP is that, she is a person who knows what she wants. And there are horror stories of her friends who didn't like their proposal rings (Husbands didn't know it of cos) So i want to make sure that i got it right.

I actually set aside cash for 0.5 diamond but in the end she wanted 0.3 - 0.4. When Rei did a blind test to fit a 0.5 diamond onto a temporary ring. She wore it and said it's too big for her, she don't want it. That confirms my decision. Finally, she picked her own ring design and we left. I messaged Rei to have her note down my partner's choice of ring setting and headed back JP the next week to make deposit.

The diamond selection was quite tedious, between 0.43 VVS D, E, F.
I found the specs for these 3 diamonds very nice. But F looks the best to me. I felt very comfortable with the patterns i see in ASET scope. But i can't find Pinpoint and clouds as mentioned in GIA cert.
Anyway i just paid my deposit and waiting for collection.

My objective to bring her to JP was very clear. Because most partners don't know much about diamond specs.
They like to compare who has bigger diamond, more beautiful setting, etc. There are definitely people who have bigger carats then my partner. Some of her friends are quite curd when it comes to proposal rings.
I hope by looking through JP diamonds, she will be proud of her Super Ideal Cut even though its not a big one.

At least i don't have to face the pressure of her friends asking her or myself - why didn't i get a bigger one for her.
I can answer to those people I didn't get a bigger diamond but i got one that she likes. :s13:

Diamond + side diamond setting = 4k

Which one did you get in the end? the Brellia?

Hi bro,

i compare the brellia and the super ideal round of the same size side by side on setting, the super ideal round just appear "bigger" and even the guy who serves me says so. I ended up getting super ideal round :s13:

Hi all, I'm new here. Today I just bought a proposal ring from Gold Heart celestial series. I would like to ask u all about the diamond that I bought:
0.44 G VVS2 $3688 but is not under GIA cert. the diamond cert is from celestial itself. May I know the celestial cert isn't equivalent to GIA cert or any other cert? Isn't the cert is more important to proof the diamond spec?? Please help me thanks :)

GIA and AGS cert are recognised internationally as the most reliable, while celestial cert is only recognised by gold heart. So imho, GIA cert is more important than celestial cert..

Well.. those certs are considered "in-house" certificate. They are printed by themselves and doesn't hold any value..
It's not the same as GIA as its a 3rd party independent appraiser and is unbiased.
The certificate is important cos essentially, you are paying more for the grade shown on the cert. So if the company puts a higher grade on the cert, you will be paying more for that grade. That's why "in-house" certs don't carry much value as there is strong incentive for the company to inflate the grade.

Anyway, since you bought the stone already, don't think too much about it. If your worried about it, you can have it appraised by an independent gemologist.
