Would anyone here settle on a very good and good, instead of excellent specs? Seems the prices are significantly cheaper for those specs. And to my naked eye, dont know why I couldn't tell the difference between excellent and very good and good?

I will not haha, the sparkles really makes a difference. It does once you look at it long enough. Mine although a small 0.46, I can see the "reflection" or whatever you call it when I am in the bus under sunlights, quite paiseh actually.

what if... they are all the same? :s13:

nah i checked, they are different pictures :s13::s13::s13: slight differences

i will not settle for a good, comparing a triple ex vs super ideal, there is already a difference in the way the diamond sparkles. i dont want to imagine a good. but I couldnt tell the difference between super ideal and solasfera, so decided to save on that :D

I wouldn't sacrifice on the Cut. I'd rather go for a lower color and clarity and keep the Cut the best. To me, the sparkles is the most important.

The shop you saw the diamonds might use powerful lights.. so the difference is hard to see.

If a normal excellent cut diamond already looks like this, a very good and good one will be worse le

better to go for triple ex, unless u really need big carat on a budget.. certificate wise, triple ex is the best liao.. just that amongst triple ex there are also good and not so good ones.. Some retailers like JP sifts out the good ones to sell as super ideals at a higher price. There are other retailers that do not do further segregation within the triple ex range, so if u know how to pick a good piece, u may get a good triple ex at a good price from these retailers, without paying the premium for a super ideal.

If really have to compromise, I would go for lower grade of color and clarity...

as mentioned by others, i too feel that 3ex is still a minimum for a diamond. you can save a bit by going for a lower colour or clarity. or like myself i going for an ideal diamond from jp. but of course just make sure only HCA score is the only that prevent it from getting a super ideal status. you can save quite abit and still get a decent gem.

As long as you know what you're buying, you'll be fine. For most of us, the point of buying a diamond is for it to sparkle (and show of love of course :s13:). And for it to "shine bright like a diamond", it is to do with the Cut.

Alot of places uses the Super Ideal or Ideal cut term very loosely. Just like how GIA 3EXC is very loose. I've ever been to some shops that claim their diamonds are "Super Ideal Cut" but yet they don't have the scopes to show it. I've also seen shops selling "Ideal" cuts but the HCA score was very bad. My advice is to focus more on the scopes and learn how to choose yourself.

You're most likely gonna make this purchase only once in your lifetime and its probably gonna be your biggest ever purchase (for now :s13:)
So make sure you know fully what you're buying. Just my 2 cents :)

Hi All,

I saw tons of forum comment about getting JannPaul diamond.

What happen to the Gabrielle diamond?

Is it still possible to get it in Singapore?

Same sentiments. I chose a simple 6 prong design as well. Bulk of the dough went into the diamond. ( Meant to be a surprise, I hope she will like the timless look )

mine also simple 6 prongs which i designed myself :D

Ivan - cause im thinking whether should i get the diamonds overseas which it seems to be cheaper + no G.S.T also T_T

There is GST if it is above $400. In my case, Fedex told me they will send the bill after the delivery.
