Just reserved a super ideal 0.57ct, vs1 and G color from JP for $4500. Gia number 1209984252. HCA 1.4

Have not received scopes from them yet. Is this quotation from JP ok? Been thinking of topping up a further 1k but not sure what that would get me.

Yeap looks ok :) wait for the scope pictures to further decide. Normally a 1colour or clarity up would cost abt 5-10% difference within the 0.5carat jump. My 0.61 vs1 cost $5950. So if you want to topup $1k u most likely can get very near 0.6?? Or u can use that 1k to do up more special ring setting with side diamonds to bling rhe ring even further

Yup. Was thinking if the HCA score of 1.4 is abit 'borderline' for a super ideal cut. But shall hold my horses till I get the scope images. My fiancée does not intend to upgrade this ring so was thinking of getting something better :)

Cus $1k topup might not be able to get something beyond 0.6. Unless stretch budget abit more :)

Originally wanted a 0.6x ct but fiancée said that 0.5x is sufficient. Will post scope images once JP sends them to me. Seems like an additional 1k can't get me much. Might need to up the budget :(

if your fiancee says 0.5x is enough and your 0.57 is actually quite near to 0.6x, then maybe topup the amount for the setting with side diamonds? If you still prefer a better diamond, then gotta stretch your wallet =)

If not, maybe try to find a 0.6x with G colour VS2. Though i personally feel D-F is a good colour but most forumers mention if you don't compare a G with something else, it's of not much difference.

In terms of setting, fiancée chose one with a mix of 18k rose gold/white gold. Reading thru this thread, I realise that platinum is a popular option. Might want to go for this instead. As for side diamonds, she prefers a plain settings which is why I'm considering investing on a bigger rock.

Rock-wise, for now if anything, I will be looking for a D-E color with similar specs. Either that or an increase in carat but specs remain the same. Fiancée says this rock is already very nice but well, after lurking through this thread for around a year, can't help but want something that she really really likes since this is a once in a lifetime gift. Thanks for your advice! Hope to receive scopes soon, then can seek advice from you peeps again since I'm not very proficient in evaluating the scope images.

1.4 HCA is still ok. Its only useful to weed out the high HCA scores (bad diamonds). I've seen "very good" cuts with HCA scores below 1.4 too.
It's better to use the scope images to judge the diamond as it will give a fuller picture ;)

Personally wouldnt advice a platinum for a ering setting but would vote platinum for wedding band :)

hopefully you will be able to find the perfect rock within ur budget! Totally agree with you that since its a lifetime gift, should get something which both of you like. Ur fiancee sounds like a very contented person and you are great in wanting to get the best for her! My husband doesnt believe in diamond so he leave it to me to decide lols. How i wish he is as enthusiatic as all of you guys!

Just went down to JP. You are right. Topping up a further 1k gets me a 0.6ct F, vs1. Not top much diff. Was advised by Samuel to go for side diamond settings and my fiancée seems agreeable as well. So will be planning an appt with Isaac to customise a setting with side diamonds. Haha, sure is interesting and informative to gather feedback and opinions here. Peeps here are all diamond pros.

Nice ring! Can I ask how much is this including the setting?
From what I gather, with a budget of around 6k, I should be able to get a stone that is approximately 0.6c, VS1/2, E/F?

Heading to JP next week, and this has been a really informative thread!

With a 5.5k budget for the stone only, you can get a super ideal 0.6ct, vs1, F color. Just spoke with Samuel from JP today about this :)

Thanks a lot! Just wanted to get a gauge of the price range in case they quote me something that is significantly different.

Btw, any one here can advise on the price range for the setting? My girlfriend wants something simple, so it is likely that I will get one that is without any side diamonds

Without side diamonds, for 18k white gold would be $550. $950 for platinum settings
