Walked into JP yesterday. I didn't know need to schedule an appt but Vince was kind enough to attend to me. At first I intended to get the round diamond diamond, then he introduced me the Octagon... It is very very shiny... like superbly shiny... The Octagon might sound more unconventional but after seeing it, its actually really really nice looking. 88 facets on it, very huat..

took pics and video :)

Apparently, I can set the diamond in different way. Can make it more square looking (left) or have the octagon shape stand out more (right). I haven't decide on my setting design yet.
Was told that any setting design I choose, they can set it in the orientation I want. They didnt have any existing Octagon diamond that is already set on the ring.. it's hard for me to imagine it in a ring. For those who bought the Octagon, any recommendation??

Will upload my scope photos when I get them.

If i were u, i would choose the setting to make the octagon shape stand out cause since its so special, it has to stand out from normal diamonds. making it looks squarish defeats the purpose of getting an octagon

Out of curiousity, from a girl's perspective, the diamond size you got suitable for everyday wear? Mines a 0.6ct cushion Brellia. Worried if it's too big for my gf..

Very beautiful ring btw :)

Yah, I find mine suitable for everyday wear =) I have seen my friend wearing a 0.7X daily too. I think anything above 1 carat will be too big for daily wear but still depends on the lady =)

Thanks for the compliment!

Yups, I have the same thoughts too.. But still thinking what kind of design should I go for. Should I go for classic simple ones or something with side diamonds. =:p

Thanks for the assurance. She's usually don't wear rings so I wasn't sure if it will be too big for her. I noticed most of her friends diamond rings are 0.3-0.5ct.

Depends on ur gf taste. Does she like simple setting or one with side diamonds? u can roughly guess from her dressing, watch(if any) and other small jewelleries which she wear normally.

take a look at this. The left orientation makes the octagon stands out but blocks certain part of the arrows while the right orientation makes the octagon look squarish yet not covering any of the arrows. might be a factor you wanna consider too :)

hmmmm I think you are right. I will most probably go for the one on the left. the shape definitely looks more unique when orientated this way.

Cool! Btw im just curious, how much does an octagon cost?

I got a 0.5ct octagon, price range about the same as their solasfera range.
The octagon looks very sparkly, like the solasfera. but in the end chose the octagon because of the unique shape.

I havent confirm the diamond yet though, I cant decide whether should go for the D or the F color. Need to top up abt $700 for the color difference.
What color did you get for yours?

Ic. I got a e colour. D e or f are absolutely fine. So if budget is a concern i suggest u go for f colour if not go for d?

F,vs2 is already good enough as the differences are too subtle.. spend the money on what the eyes can see .. Carat size

I have compared colours from E to H at JP, personally I feel that the slight hint of yellow hue is only visible when you compare D/E to F/G or H when placed together on a white piece of paper... So it's really up to individuals and how "mind clean" you want the stone to be.
