Hi guys I just recently stumbled upon this credit card discovery regarding the UOB One Card. If you already know about their rebate system, then can skip this post. Otherwise read on :D

As you know, JP allows 12 months installment plan. So you have to pay a few hundred dollars a month for 12 months if you take up this offer.

What happens is that if you pay using this One Card, you get to have a certain rebate every quarter, provided you spend at least $300 a month and have 3 transactions on this card.

It works like this:
Spend at least $300 for 3 consecutive months and you get $30 rebate off your 4th month bill. Assuming you clock at least 3 transactions a month, which should be easy for most people. (Watch movie also can use credit card nowadays)

So using it for 1 year should allow you to have 4 times rebates in 13 months.

Now the trick is to time the quarters exactly because they don't just work in any 3 months! (That was my mistake initially) Call up their customer service to find out when does your quarter start, everyone is different. They will be able to advise you accordingly.

What's more, the rebates don't stop at $30. You get $80 off if you spend $800 every month, or $150 if you spend $1500. I know it's not alot and may not matter much but I think every little helps.

Going by the diamond sizes I see on display here, I estimate the median expenditure to be slightly closer to 6k. That's $500 a month, easily clearing the $300 minimum amount.

Hope this post helps!

I think Manhattan's rebate is higher (up to $200 per quarter). But the problem is how to get it to spread across 4Q. :s13:

For UOB card or any other cards, I think installments are not eligible for such rebate right? I know for sure Citibank and Standard Chartered installment cannot clock points or rebates.

Installments are applicable. I checked it personally myself. :s13:

Well, if you can spread it across for both than, it's a clear win-win situation.

Furthermore, UOB is more common than Manhattan.

Hi guys, after 3 months of searching for diamond ring alone, and occasionally with my gf, i finally got 1 and proposed to my gf last week! :)

Actually i think like most guys here, i feel that we are equipped with too much knowledge of a diamond than we required to get an ideal proposal ring for someone you will spend your life with. Haha reason why? just ask your girlfriend or female friend if they know that much about it. To girls, it's simply, carat. And not so much about color and clarity.

When to JP and personally, i think their service is top notch! But i find that the diamond is rather pricey (due to better quality diamond), so i ended up going for another shop recommended by my friend. For the price of a .6 diamond at JP, i managed to get a .77 H VS2 triple excellence. If i remember correctly, JP do not bring in anything that is G color or below. Personally i think H is still very much colorless and good enough.

So for the setting design, me and my gf stumbled upon a hongkong Jewelry shop in MBS, we were amazed by the design they have over there. And i picked a very elegant design for her and custom made it.

Dont mind me sharing the pictures of the ring i took with my lumix camera :)

i am using manhattan for this purchase as well. However, i will need to call in to check when is the 3Qs cut off date. Planning to use the same cards for deposit of hotel banquet.

Neomuffin: Congrats! I think it's always best to know as much as you can when buying a diamond.. Especially when you're paying so much for it..

Did u use the ideal or Aset scope? I can see the light leakages in the middle and girdle digging in the second pic..

Hmm... Must read more about this UOB One card more. If that's the case, the initial down payment use Manhattan pay (up to 5% rebate), the remaining use UOB's installment. (3.33% rebate for any tier) :D

It's in your statement. :)

Ok maybe I should apply for Manhattan as well.

But I thought of paying in cash for most of the ring anyway.

Does JannPaul accept UOB's 0% interest free installments? I did ask about the Citibank one but not UOB's.

Get the Manhanttan, charge the ring to the card .
Start a SCB xtrasaver account ( current ) . 2% cash rebate on all transactions on the debit card. And 0.5% cash rebate on any NETS transcations.
Then use ur cash in this xtrasaver account to pay off the Manhanttan bill. 5.5% rebate in total cash back, subject to cash back limit respectively.

Much better off paying cash for the ring

Also thinking of using CC to pay off the remaining amount in installments. Are there any interests charged by JP for the installment, or is it interest free?

Also, can I confirm that the CC rebates for Manhatten is not applicable for installments? If so, I'll need to get the UOB One Card.

JP has Citibank 0% interest free installments but not sure if it applies to UOB.
