on top of that, "private jeweller" sounds like a good brand too. I will still go back to JP for my next diamond (for the same woman :s13: )

:s13::s13: Saw ur pics above.. and I would say its almost the same as what I have got(maybe I cant see the difference).. =:p=:p

Still in a dilemma which to get.... a branding ring from Brilliant Rose/Destinee or a ring from Jann Paul. Some feedback gathered were get a branded proposal ring and a no branding wedding band later.. as proposal ring is for showing off. Is that true or the other way round?

From this lady's pov, a bigger carat allows me to show off more than a branded one becoz the former is much more apparent at first glance..

Hi all, i went to JannPaul to get my proposal ring way back in september, and now that i have successfully proposed, i shall fulfill my promise to JP and write a review about my experience with them while i was buying the ring

Before i went down, I emailed JP in august regarding my want of making an appt with them. A reply came promptly from Casey (big shout out here to him - good man, great service, more on this later!) and he was very informative and non-pushy in his emails on when i could go down and what was my price range and what diamonds he recommended. I had some trouble going down earlier in august as i had work commitments (O-lvl oral invigilation!) and had to find time where my fiancee would not notice my absence as well. Being accomodating, Casey understood my difficulties immediately, and told me that they were pretty flexible in their appts, and that i should take my time.. so far so great! Was already impressed by their service just through simple email correspondence which had a very human touch to it as Casey also was kind enough to ask if I was fine and whether i was bored out of my mind with the invigilations (I was).

So, about a month later, I managed to find time to go down to JP to choose my ring, rather, choose my diamond first. Casey was there, ready, for me, though i have to admit was a bit apprehensive about stepping into House of Hung at first, and I thought i got the wrong place. Anyway, the first thing he did was to sit me down, and asked my how much i knew about diamonds. "Er... not much?" was my honest answer. I think if i walked into most other jewellery shops, the sales ppl would be like "yes can tekan this goondoo liao"... instead Casey was very, very patient, and very willing to share his knowledge of diamonds. Hence, I embarked on a very engaging and interesting "lesson" with "teacher casey", who spent over an hour telling me what made a good diamond, the 4 Cs, the certifications, how they arent everything, how a super ideal somewhere can look different from another super ideal under e scopes and a discerning. He even took the risk of bringing the stones out of the shop to show me how they sparkle under sunlight. I was joking what would happen if they dropped into the drains that were lurking dangerously at our feet while he was showing me the diamonds!

It was one of the best hour or so that i ever spent in my life, and left my feeling much more informed, and more confident in my choice of diamond. In the end, i chose a 0.55 VS1 F Brellia, since i had mentioned to him earlier that my fiancee preferred square cuts. Oh ya, before i went to the shop, Casey had already emailed me links to see ther brellia "in action", and i was very impressed by then.. back to the story. So stone chosen, and i still had to choose the setting. Argh. It was harder than i thought. Again, I felt that if I was at other places, ppl would have gotten a little pissed with me for taking a long time for "just the setting". Casey was again patient, and offered good advice and ideas which i took in. In the end, I settled on a simple, no side diamond setting, but i changed the 2 claw prongs to single prong after he told me that it was not a problem to change it.

And that was not the end. Even after choosing the diamond and setting, he proceeded to tell me "why not pay by the Manhattan card?" since i would get a good cashback from it. Wah, a shop that auto tells me how to save? how much better can this get???

So payment made, and i left the shop very very happy and satisfied with the standards of service and diamonds, and the amount of professionalism and patience. However, when i arrived home, i realised that maybe I should have gotten 1 ring size bigger, and quickly emailed Casey asking if I could still change it. Another prompt reply settled my fears, and he told me that it was no problem. A few days later, he sent my photos of the diamond that I had chosen and I was again left impressed by their service. How many shops in SG actually do such things for their customers?

Now, proposal is over, fiancee is VERY HAPPY with the ring, and she didnt expect to see such a big stone (testament to the great prices at JP!), and we will be going down to get our wedding bands done by JP as well. I told her that she should spend time going through the "diamond lesson" that i had, as it was very informative, and we can learn alot from it.

So, outta 5 stars, I will give JP this:

1. Quality of diamonds/settings/overall ring: ***** :s12:
2. Quality of Service: ***** :s12:
3. Quality of after-purchase commitment: ***** :s12:

YES! 5 out of 5 for everything! I hate shopping as most guys do, but this was one of the best, if not the best, shopping experience i ever had! Thank you JannPaul for making an unforgettable night happen with your unforgettable service and quality! Special thanks to Casey who served me that day too! You rock! (pardon the pun!):D

Anyone here mind to share their price of diamond + setting with the spec

Carat: 0.4 - 0.5c
Color: E - G
Clarity: VS1 - VS2
Cut: Excellent

I just need a rough price how much will this cost from JP with classic solitaire setting?

I have a limited budget of $2.5k
Is it possible to get something from the above spec?

Thanks for your reply.
