Hi guys can you help me to review these two diamonds.

I have been to this shop, a diamond wholesaler, recommended by a colleague.

I captured the two GIA certs.
ImageShack® - GIA Cert
Both diamonds have very good H&A shape, according to my view :). with 57 facets.

She does not have Ideal Scope for me to check though.
I check the laser printing. It matches the cert.

The 0.57C is priced at 3500 including the ring.
The 0.63C is priced at 4500 including the ring.

I checked online (vivo Diamond) and a few shops, the price seems very attractive to me. What do you think?

I really appreciate your help.

Have you checked the hearts and arrows pattern yourself?
Its a risk if you do not have a scope. Get one if you think that it is important to check. If you don't, you may want to look at the proportions/specs of the diamond.

the higher the HCA score, the better the diamond?

HCA scores range 1 to 10?

HCA ranges from 0 to 10. Normally, the best ones would range between 0.5 to 1.5. Some people may accept up to 2.0, some less at 1.3/1.4. Generally, if you have a HCA score of below 2.0, it is worth exploring.

Please enlighten me with the methods to tell those 2 triple excellent are towards the lower end? I really like to know how beside the HCA scores.
I cannot verify the diamond with Idealscope since I dont have one.

But when I compare the price and specs of these two with other diamonds, these two offer very good bargain and good spec too.

Thank you.

Besides the HCA, i can tell you right now you likely have the ring of death or poor light return on both of them especially under the table :s12:, the crown angle is very steep 36 degrees. depth is 62 and above soooo...

your diamond is going to look smaller than it's actual carat size
brilliance is the most lack luster in the 3 EX range.

this is almost crossing the boundaries of reaching GIA's VG cut

Hmm personally, I wouldn't dare to commit/buy a diamond without using the Ideal and ASET scope :s13:

i was talking to a gemstone jeweller. and this was what she said.

if you are a collector, then a lot of little things matter. like the clarity and color. and thats when the scopes(ideal, aset etc) matter a lot.

if you aren't a collector, and are a lay person, then the most important thing is usually how the diamond looks. meaning size/light return/sparkle etc. WITHOUT scopes
if thats the case, take a look at the diamond, and compare it to another one, preferably a CZ stone as gold standard. if it can almost equal the CZ stone, that means the diamond is good to go. a diamond that looks great on the scope can look worse with the naked eye than another that has poorer scope images.

besides buying a diamond that is worth its "market" value, get one that you(or who you're buying for) will be happy with!

When it comes to purchasing a ring. Are you concerned of the diamond quality? Are you concerned of the quality of the workmanship of the band/setting? or both? In general, what are your requirements? What is acceptable/good to you?

Actually Im not good at ring.. Never been a interest of it too.
But me n my bf getting married soon, So i just started to look for it.
I went to NEX and happen to saw this store Aurora Jewelry and bought a Scintilli diamond there, when sales show me everything was good.. After wearing for 2 weeks im so regret about it now. As the quality went so bad.. I was kinda surprise. And now. I seeking your advise on what is really good.
workmanship & setting is important to me. Im very easy, As long as the design is something simple w good quality, Im fine with it.
Lastly the most important thing is the ring price.. =:p
Thanks!

hmm.. Aurora Jewelry to my knowledge doesn't sell real diamonds. If I am not mistaken, they are stimulant ("manmade") diamonds.

There are many resources on the web to help you get started. There are generally 5Cs, ranked in order of importance.

1) Certification - Always insist on diamond certifications to be either GIA or AGS. They are the most credible. Other labs may give a better score for a poorer diamond.

2) Cut - This is the most important. Brilliance, Fire & Scintillation is one aspect. Having Ideal Symmetry in the form of Hearts & Arrows is another. To some people, one can define the best diamonds to have perfect H&A, as well as very good brilliance, fire and scintillation. Some others, perhaps just look for either factor. As a first step recommendation, always insist of Triple Excellence/Ideal. The second step, is to use HCA (an online tool) that some people use to weed out good diamonds. A HCA score of between 0.5 to 2 is recommended. The third step is to use scopes (IDEAL, ASET, H&A) or other reports such as SARIN to evaluate the light return/leakage of diamonds. The fourth is to look at the diamond physically.

3) Colour - D is the most white. As it goes down the range, it gets yellow. Coloured/tinted diamonds are rated Z. H should be the lowest colour one should go. D-F is recommended for colourless diamonds.

4) Clarity - Clarity is actually the least important of the 3Cs. Based on what I see, SI2 is the lowest that one should go. However, if going for VS2 to SI2 grades, please make sure that the diamond is eye clean. Meaning to say, no obvious inclusions.

5) Carat - This is largely based on the quality of the cut, colour and clarity vs the budget.

Hope this helps you get started.

diamond scanners like heliums/sarins are just backup tools, they can be edited :s12:

Yes. Likewise, diamonds can be swopped, or be falsified. If you really want to be sure, get the diamond appraised and get it from trusted vendors/shops only. A good return policy/refund for the diamond would be preferred.

hmm.. putting those bigger chains aside, here's my top list::

Fairy Inc
Ling's Jewellery
Jann Paul
Canary Diamonds

Others you can try are:
E Clarity
Vivo Diamonds
Lovida

To me, it is the jeweller that plays a greater part than the diamond. I need someone I can trust. Someone who can understand. Someone who can provide the entire package (both the diamond and the setting). Visit a few, and if you have that "connection" with the jeweller, that would be the one for you. Hope this helps.
