Dear All,

Need some advice on what I can get from Tianpo HOF with a budget of 11k?

I know it's not the most ideal place to get a ring but I need it by this Friday.

Pls help me..thank you

Think you can get around 0.5-0.7 (rough estimate). It depends on the 4Cs as well.

For 11k, you can get a much bigger diamond at other places.. With Tian Poh, probably about 0.6ct.. Others about 0.8ct.. And maybe even a better quality one since those typical retails stores don't carry all the scopes to see the diamond.

Actually with this budget, maybe you may want to consider the branded brands like Cartier or T&C instead? Although the diamond may be smaller or of a lower grade, at least you get a "branding" over a HOF, which I feel that the premium one is paying, one is better off getting a branded ring.

I recently got a G VS2 Cushion Brellia 0.45 for around $2.1K. (just the diamond)
Ring settings will set you back at least another $550 if I remember correctly.

Is it just me or there is a big jump in the price between a 0.40+ct to 0.50+ct diamond? And if yes, wats is the reason?

Yea, there is a big price jump when the diamond is 0.50ct and over.. That's why you should avoid those sizes like 0.40, 0.50, etc.

I would avoid option 3 since because it's a 0.50. Option 2 is SI1.. I would try to keep to a VS minimum.. So far option 1 is the only one that looks viable to me out of the 3... but they are all J Color?

I can't say much about the Cut without the scope pictures... Even if GIA certify an Excellent Cut grade, it can still be very bad..

Was at JP today to try on my wax ring :D

This was the 3D design that they came up with for my Solasfera diamond..

I'm more or less settled with the rose gold prongs as it makes the setting look more like a flower..

This is the physical wax ring for me to see before they start crafting it in whitegold. Overall, I'm very happy with their service. They were very patient with me and I could tell that they put in alot of effort to help me with my ideal proposal ring. Very excited to see how my final ring would look like :s12::s12:

Thanks Bro for sharing your thoughts.

When we say "scope pictures" can it be easily produced? or only specific shops can offer it?

BTW, yours looks VERY Special!!!

J color is too yellowish for engagement ring. As advised by JannPaul, always stick to a miminum G color for a proposal ring.

Most of the retailers do not have Aset Scope for analysis. Some private jewellers in Singapore do provide the scope for viewing. JannPaul is one of them.

Thanks @Des126 for the information

Have anyone considered or have tried online shops?

I am aware of the risks involve.

Firstly, not being able to give asset scope.

Secondly, are they really telling the truth when it comes to the details that they are saying from their website or list of items for sale?

Thirdly, though GIA certificate is available, is it unique for every item and can it be duplicated or altered?

One of our bros here have bad experience before with Bluenile. He claimed that his friend's Vg Cut was even better than the one (GIA 3EX) he got from Bluenile.

There are some reputable online jewellers from US like Whiteflash, Brian Gavin & Good Old Good. I am not aware of any risk dealing with them so far.

If you are looking for Super Ideal Cut i believe all the bros here will recommend JannPaul.

If price is your concern i would recommend visiting a few private jewellers who does provide aset scope image for viewing. Sometimes their prices are even lower than what you get online.

Thanks @ Des126, this is one of the reasons why reading/learning comes handy when you're a 1st time buyer.
