Hi I need to buy a proposal ring soon. I was quoted a 13k for a 0.5 carat diamond ring at lee hwa jewellery. It is called the destinee royal diamond. Is this worth it? or it is expensive because it is a brand in the mall. I dont know much about diamond myself. Budget is around 10-20k

That's way overpriced! The destinee royal is 81 facets and got 10 H/A. JP Solasfera has 91 facets and got 10 H/A too and its like half of their price.. so you can do the math... plus lee hwa don't have all the scopes to show you the light leakages in the diamond.

You got a better deal. Mine was $3950 just for the diamond without the ring setting. Hmm...wonder y i paid so much compared to urs, maybe i shld ask JP.

Was told that i was given a wrong ring not from jp inventory..after looking thru the pix here i realised the setting i got is way simpler and not as nice. Anyway will be meeting them later to sort the whole thing out

Thanks you are right. I should really take a look at JP then. I went over to Poh Heng too.. Quoted with the same price 13k. 0.51 carat and 57 facets F colour VVS2 triple excellent.

Turns out they confused me for a walk in customer, and I bought a non super ideal diamond, hence the price. Moral of the story : Make an appointment before going down!

Regardless, everything is all settled now and I got my ring. Kudos to Casey for the great service!! I'll be recommending all my friends there.

Wow.. That's even more over priced! Lol
When it comes to diamonds, I'd rather go for the best cut and not just the brand.

Guys, Gals,

Have anyone tried buying the H&A of Whiteflash? they have good sets of rocks. seems like im not seing a comparison between JP and Whiteflash and BrianGavin H&A. Have anyone trusted the image of Whiteflash's H&A?

Whiteflash Signature .501ct -.530ct F or G, VS1 or VS2 is arround SGD2,100- SGD2,300 tax and shipping excluded. have anyone considered?

Lovida .60ct G VS2 3EX SGD3008.88 how about this? is this as good as the Super Ideal H&A?

Thanks.

Help needed

Hi all,

I have been quoted the following by JP. It seems like a bit steep when I compared it with what some of you guys are getting. I am quite satisfied with their service so far but am not too happy with the price quoted especially when it has always been told to me that their prices are reasonable.

Would appreciate all the experienced stone hunters to give me some feedback. Thank you.

$8300 (NO RING SETTING)

Super Ideal, 0.77 carat, VS2 E with HCA score 0.7

Flourescence: None

I have the scope pictures but am unable to post images due to my low post counts. Any ways to get around it?

Numbers and details like these are good for comparison, we all now how JP is and I think would be incomparable with below rocks, but we are aware that JP is not that far from them.

.77ct D VS2 BrianGavin Signature AGS-Ideal SGD6685 Tax and Shipping Excluded
.750 D VS1 BrianGavin Signature AGS-Ideal SGD7508 Tax and Shipping Excluded
.770 E VVS1 WhiteFlash Ideal A CUT Above SGD8490 Tax and Shipping Excluded
.760 E VS2 Lovida 3EX SGD6579
.750 F VVS2 Lovida Signature 3EX SGD7463
.760 E VVS2 Lovida Signature 3EX SGD7741

It depends on the Cut. I know JP only carries Super Ideal Cuts so I'm assured for their quality.

I would give Lovida a miss.. I remember them spamming the forums in the past and claiming that their diamonds was Super Ideal. Made an appointment with them too see their diamonds. But after requesting to see the diamonds with the diff scopes, I could see alot of flaws.. and when they failed to convince me that their diamonds were Super Ideal, they tried to persuade me to buy uncertified diamonds  Personally, I think they're just trying to trick diamond newbies..

For that price, you might as well go for Tiffany/Cartier/Harry Winston that are more international re-known brands! But like what {Gorgeous} said, it does not necessarily mean its a better diamond.

To really see how good a diamond is, you need to see it with the Aset scope, Ideal scope and hearts and arrows scope.. which none of these high brands provide.. So you're pretty much just paying more for the brand than the diamond.

I made a mistake splurging on a Tiffany ring before.. Unfortunately, I didn't know about JP then... I upgraded my diamond with them at a lower price and for a better diamond. The difference in the quality is obvious. Oh, and Tiffany certifies their own diamonds.. so it's not even GIA certified..

I think that diamond prices have increased a fair bit but the price seems fair. Mine was a 0.77 as well but VS2 G (Cushion Brellia) and it cost me $7200 about a year ago.

I've customised mine with JP and will be going down to see the end pdt this Saturday. Will post pics soon. :)

The price sounds right.. Mine was a 0.76 E VS2 and the price is similar to yours.

I believe Cut is the most important when buying a diamond. I had many compliments from my friends of my ring and how big it looks =:p

Be wary of the term "Super Ideal" that is often used in marketing.. When we were diamond shopping, several shops we visited said their diamonds were Super Ideal too.. but they don't even carry the scopes to show the diamond.. So I don't know how they get away with it..

What I like about JP is their excellent after sales services.. they give several freebies like free resizings, replatings, engraving and a hearts/arrows viewer. They even went the extra mile on rushing out my replating for my big day.

Believe you can start by reading this thread.. my guess for 3K you should be able to get a 0.45 (and below) G color, VS2 with simple ring setting.

You can always ask JP to quote you what's available based on your budget and you make the call whether what they show you is worth it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks bro! Wonder will 4k make a bit difference..? Hmm simple ring settings would mean no have those diamond things on the ring yea...
