Btw, this is my ring pics on my BIG day :D

Had a minor scare 2 days before my wedding.. I accidentally knocked my ring while opening my house metal gate causing a small scratch on the surface of my band.. Was so upset about it.. I immediately called JP and ask if they can help do something about it. They were kind enough to rush and re-plate my ring all in 1 day without extra charge :)

Your diamond looks huugge!! Nice to know that Jann Paul can be so efficient to get things done quickly in the event of an emergency. Your ring looks perfect anyways.

I'm patiently waiting for my Brellia ring design

I know that white gold is the norm for the ring. Was thinking would the contrast effect be even greater if the band is rose gold with the same diamond as I personally think that rose gold looks nicer on our skin. But eventually it all boils down to which one my gf like.

From my knowledge they do not provide inclusion pictures. The other scopes are only used to see light return and symmetry, not inclusions.

I saw some specks on the scopes a first. After Casey cleaned it several times, they were gone.
They are actually accumulated dust from me touching the diamond with my bare hands :D

Captured some images of the scopes on my phone with the help of Casey, couldn't see any inclusions.

By right to see inclusions you should use a magnification eye loupe.
Tried using one on my appointment and could barely see them.

I am seeking guys opinion..

Previously I visited Jannpaul with a friend that is choosing proposal ring for his fiancé.

Currently I had already planned out my wedding and BTO-ed with my husband to be. All I know is he is looking out for a diamond ring for me at Harry Winston from his best buddy that works there.

I secretly went to Harry Winston to look at their Cushion Cut diamond ring, which looks no where near Jp's Cushion Brellia.
I really love how the Brellia sparkles.

Which brings me to my question, is it offensive to let him know I don't want the Harry Winston Cushion Cut?

I am afraid he won't be happy because he promised his best bud to give him this "Business"

PS: I hijacked my brother's account because my HTB has access to mine.

I think this is more between you and your SO. You should talk to him about it.. I'm sure he will understand you. After all, isn't the ring meant to make you happy? I don't see why he would be offended if you decide to get your diamond from somewhere else.. He probably wants the Harry Winston diamond because his friend might have staff discount to get a better deal.. although it might affect his friend's commission (I'm not sure if they do have), but the diamond is about you and your SO.. not about his friend..

Choosing your diamond ring shouldn't be this complicated. It is the time if your life :)

Some rose gold detailing on the ring will look nice.. I've never seen diamond ring in rose gold before.. so can't comment much on that

If he gets it from Harry Winston from his friend there would be some discount.
Even with the discounts I'm sure they are still very expensive. He told me just yesterday his best buddy is sourcing some diamonds for him. If I were to tell him now I want Jp's Cushion Brellia his best buddy sure will get angry?

Kept looking at this the whole day

I really hope to get involved with the diamond buying process and not just get to see the ring when he pops the question.

The customizing process and trying on the wax is so interesting!

Hi guys, I got an offer for the following from JP

$6100
0.72C
G
VS1
$6100
Super Ideal

Is it a good buy? Btw, I was served by a guy named Aaron, not Jann or Paul. Quite friendly and knowledgeable but most important is the value of the diamond.

I am looking at another similar 0.76C which cost $7100. :s22:

The size looks the same side by side..

Go with your heart.. If you have that niggling thought, it will return to haunt you. Just hint to him about your wishes. I am sure he will catch it.

Go ahead to let him know what you want. I'm sure he is more concern on what you like most instead of his buddy feeling.

Price looks reasonable.. Did you see the diamond with the different scopes? What is the other 3Cs of the 0.76C?

You might want to talk to him sooner before it progresses deeper..

I so understand wanting to participate in the customizing ring process to pick your design.. but on the other hand, it might ruin the surprise in a sense

From a guy's POV, please please let him know what you like.
The only reason why he is getting the ring is to marry you and make sure you are happy :s13:
So just be straight forward and let him know, then both of you can decide from there on.

I got the Cushion Brellia for my wife too, just saying :D

Yes I looked at the various scope and the rocks looks really good. Had a good HCA score too.

As the store is closing, I did not get a chance to view 0.76C under the scopes but spec wise, its about the same.

Base from my readings about diamonds and AGS report,

I'm not sure if using the AGS report is openly being used to show inclusions, but actually it will tell you where the inclusions are located and what type of inclusions are on the diamond.

It will help you to determine whether that inclusion/s is/are ok with the diamond. Some inclusions can be neglected but some can cause damage to the stone.

If you are having a diamond with VS2 or VS1 you can easily see it using the scopes, but if you are having VVS2 or VVS1 you will have a hard time finding them and even IF.

One good lesson is, VS1 (1 bottom) inclusions can be seen at the bottom of your rock, while VS2 (2 top) can be seen on the top. That explains why VS2 and VS1 is affordable than VVS2 (2 top) and VVS1 (1 bottom) and even IF.

If you can't see the difference between the size of the 2 diamonds like you said earlier, you can consider the cheaper one for more value.. unless she prefers a higher color or clarity

Start by showing him this you tube video ;-) he might end up considering what you want, the least ;-)

Has anyone considered the Brilliant rose? It’s 66 facets and sparkles more compared to the normal 57 facets round. Is it worth the higher cost?

Thank you all for the helpful feedbacks! I feel more confident in getting the right ring for myself.
Will set an appointment with Jp with my HTB so he can get educated too ^.^
