Is just the diamond.. Without setting.. So is this a gd buy??

0.66ct D VS1 3ex, hca 0.6, heart & arrow diamond for $4.7k

It is a good buy, considering its .66 and almost a "prime cut". you can compare it to a .70 (hehehhe) and the color is D, if you can go with E it will be cheaper, VS1 is really good though.

The difference from nexer08 is only 800SGD, for a .15ct, color and clarity difference.

From Nexer08:

"You got urself a good deal since its a super ideal cut. I paid $3900 for a 0.51ct E VS2 diamond at JP recently.
Dont know why there is such a big diff in the pricing..."

Hi all, as said, since mods decided to ignore, will post Paul's PM here as 2 others interested parties has asked me about the reply. Have a feeling it might be deleted? If it does get deleted, will bring this up with :vijayadmin:.

hi guys, a newbie in proposal ring here...

just went over to lee hwa and was quoted $3700++ for a ring (normal GIA) with the below specs. Is it considered cheap/expensive?

0.5 caret, VS1, F color

i cant really rem about the triple excellent but i think it only came with 1 'excellent' and 2 'good' ratings. :(

am requesting them to look for minimum VVS2, F color and hopefully triple excellent or at least very good to which they have not gotten back to me.....

Instead of asking whether it is cheap/expensive, have you done your own price comparisons with other shops? When it comes to pricing, it also depends on whether the diamond is branded.

Some start-off questions:
- How important is branding or the retailer/shop reputation?
- Are you looking for a customised ring or doesn't matter?
- What is your priority in your 4Cs. Most would place Cut is the first most important. If it is, what is your priority on the other Cs.
- What kind of diamond are you looking for? Modern Round Brilliants, or special cuts / more facets than normal?
- Do you require Hearts & Arrows cut?

More importantly, is also to know what your girl wants. :)

It's always nice to hear the two sides (probably three) of the story, feitonglongs, jp, and enventually the mods :)

Yeah, good to see the reply from Paul. And strange to see why feitonglong rather post here to 'complain' that his diamond is still missing and asking jann to msg him instead of calling JP directly. Not kan chiong meh?? :s11:

Hey thanks for the reply. Guess I was being too brief.
Lee hwa is the preferred brand as she don't like GH/SK/private jeweller.
Of course I automatically filtered out ahem the larrys...the tiffs....

Actually to her the diamond is not so impt she would prefer me to spend on photoshoot...wedding...honeymoon etc

So based on that I figure ill get a gia 0.5.. With the min specs of f color...vvs2...

Not other special request I supposed. N that was the only and first outlet I went. So tot or coming her to inquire :)

Have you considered their Destinee diamonds? You can also get them to check the entire inventory of what they have. 0.5+ is a good size. If you do not mind, you can actually lower it to a VS2. :)

the destinee is too expensive i feel....considering my gf dont really quite bother about rings. was informed the 0.39 is about $5000+

actually from the reviews i've read i thought the clarity is quite important hence i was looking at min vvs2.... (frankly i cant tell the difference).

yes that was what i did...asked them to look out for 0.5 with min vvs2, f color (regarding the facet i think norm ones will do), as well as very good for the rest of the specs :o

Clarity is important. You can safely go as low as a VS2 (sometimes even SI1). VS1 is a safe side. Generally, anything about VS2 is eyeclean, meaning you cant see it with our naked eyes. Even trained professionals can't see it without using scopes. You would be paying at a premium if you opt for VVS.

For colour, F could be the minimum.

For cut, it should be at least a triple excellent, or at least a very good if you are on a tight budget.

The price below, to me, is a bit on a high side based on a Good Cut spec with VS2, F.

The 0.66ct dia is abt 5.69mm very close to 0.7ct dia.. Find this diamond after a long search & great help from the shop.. :)

Your diamond was from JP as well? I thought a 0.5 at least already costs close to 4k maybe already.

Nope.. Mine is not from JP, been to JP, they gave mi a gd intro on diamonds.. Thru my visit to many shops then came across to this current jeweller who gave mi great help & spend time to find this super ideal diamond which fits in all my requirement..

But I compare D E F G under normal lighting, u can see the difference, D is more sparkler & more white..

Thanks! According to the sales guy, triple excellent would be rare and hence affecting the cost more!

Went with my bf to SK today and saw one of their diamond 0.55CT G VS2 GIA Excellent cut, symmetry and polish selling at $4100 with 18k ring. What do you all think? Any recommendations to look for diamond ring apart from SK and Lee Hwa?

Just found out that my last post was deleted. Why would hwz delete my post? Someone must have reported because my post was not so pleasant. :(

The diamond is still missing.

Jann could you please reply to my sms or PM me. Thanks.

You can read through this thread and you will learn a lot in terms of Shops here in Singapore, Online Diamond Seller, Popular one and etc.

Try visiting Gold Heart, they are doing active advertising nowadays, I'm seeing a lot of their ads. Tian Po, is another one.

You can as well try online, we have WhiteFlash, Brian Gavin, Blue Nile, Vivo and etc.

Again, it all depends on the likes of your GF ;-)
