Jannpaul posted a HCA limitation video which might be helpful
I've actually seen diamonds with low HCA scores looking worst than that.

Can someone help me to calculate the HCA score for my diamond pls? I think I'm doing it wrongly.
I apologise in advance if I may sound harsh, but it's your own fault for not doing things in advance. Customisation always requires time. Giving them 2 months to get everything in order is ridiculous to me. FYI, I customised my 1 engagement ring and it took me close to 3 months. I can imagine wedding bands to be long especially when it's done from scratch.Off topic a bit but still relevant to JannPaul, I've been liaising with to do up my wedding bands since Jan this year. Finally we settled on the design and look, the bands went into production in September/October. We went through the first round of changes when we went down in October to see the bands and were not happy with the end results. They promised to make changes and we requested for the images of the bands to be shown to us before the delivery.
There were few hiccups along the way (layers placed wrongly, text were smudged) and the scary thing is up to now, a week plus before my ROM, the bands are not yet ready! We were supposed to collect it over this weekend previously assured by them) but reasons/excuses were being given delaying the shipment. I can understand that things may not go right and I'm trying hard not to be a difficult customer but I'm turning into bridezilla knowing that my ROM is next Sunday and I can only now see my wedding bands on next Thu/Fri..!
The main issue is due to the enamel layer (which i've posted previously that it is the material my wedding bands are made of) which require more days of drying as explained by them. But I cannot help feel anxious about it. What if the bands still look bad when we collect on Thu/Fri? What if the bands don't fit my finger? It will be way too late to do anything about it! Now I can only pray that a good job is done in return for our anxiety.

Bro.. the HCA score is only for round diamonds.. it won't work for cushion diamonds.
The Holloway Cut Adviser (U.S. Patent 7,251,619) estimates a round diamonds appeal based on its potential Light Return, Fire, Scintillation and Spread
If I'm not wrong, yours is the cushion Brellia??
Mine is a Brellia too![]()
The HCA doesn't apply to fancy shape diamonds. From the proportions the cushion shape seem to be "deep". A diamond that is cut deeper/heavier appears to look smaller from the top view. For Modern cushion shape diamonds the best range should be Table: 49% to 56% and Depth: 63% to 69%(taken from pricescope). If yours is antique cushion then this range doesn't apply. (1 is antique cushion shape)
Wah.. D VVS1! Collectors specs!

[/QUOTE]the auto contrasting/saturation software must be very powerful. compare the old and new images, and see the differences yourself. misleading or not? you decide.
look at how the red is flushed under the table in all their old imaging.
look at how the arrowheads are so perfectly aligned to the hearts in all their old imaging.
This is precisely the problem I have with them, the images they sent to me is different from the actual diamond I've seen at their shop.

Hi there,
Ref my post below, would really appreciate if I could seek more advice and thoughts from our fellow bros and sisters here.
Thanks for your help.
I apologise in advance if I may sound harsh, but it's your own fault for not doing things in advance. Customisation always requires time. Giving them 2 months to get everything in order is ridiculous to me. FYI, I customised my 1 engagement ring and it took me close to 3 months. I can imagine wedding bands to be long especially when it's done from scratch.
You're driving yourself crazy because of your own lack of lead time and preparation.
Hi guys! First time to post here and I need your help. I'll be giving an engagement ring to my girlfriend. Actually we're already saving for our wedding on Jan. 2014, so the engagement ring is just for the sake of surprising her. So I'm not trying to splurge all our savings on the engagement ring, my plan is just to spend around 1.3K - 1.5k.
Can you recommend any shops right now that will match my budget with a nice size of diamond? I saw that there are huge discounts right now so I'm planning to buy this week. And I don't know anything about diamonds so I hope you guys will help me on this.
I will really appreciate all your help. Thank you in advance!
