Hi Hollander, you mean through the H&A image is probably the reason why it's not super ideal ?

It's not meeting the optimum range of H&A like Pavilion Angle, Lower Girdle, Star Facets and etc. But the scope images are really good for it to be an Ideal, I have been comparing it with the popular sites for their Signature Ideal and H&A, yours is even better ;-)

Guys need your frank opinions again.
What do you think of this stone under the scope images and proportions ?
FYI: This is an "non-super" Ideal from JP.

HCA: 1.5

Hmm.. the pictures all looks good actually. I suspect it is an ideal cut because of the HCA score of 1.5. If I'm not wrong, their Super Ideal Cuts min is HCA 1.4?
I have to say, it looks even better than the Ideal cuts from other websites

Hmmm... beats me too why this stone is an Ideal too... the scopes looks good and the proportions also. Just that there is a tiny wee bit of unevenness on the V portion of the hearts and a little "chipped off" on the arrow at 12 o'clock. Did JP say why this stone is an Ideal? =:p

According to Sam, JP super ideal criteria requires HCA < 1.4.
This one's a 1.5

I guess that explains why the Arrows below the hearts are bigger than usual?
Now I just gotta get over the psychological barrier that this is not a Super ideal.
On the plus side, it's $900 cheaper than an equivalent spec Super ideal.

This. I have to get over the psychological barrier about VVS vs VS stones before I decided on a VS1 =:p I guses it is really a pity that this stone gets to be an "Ideal".

Let's compare your options, a Super Ideal and an Ideal.

Though the pictures of the Super Ideal may somewhat be tilted and if you look at the center, it is a bit a "rectangular" in shape instead of the usual "square" as compare to the above.

Looking at the picture itself, the Ideal one is the most preferred. ;-)

From what you have posted, it will probably look big for its weight, and light return should be ok. But since scintillation and fire is poor, it will neither have little sparkle or colored flashes, any sparkle will probably be white light return, which some people might find lifeless... if you are ok with what you see, then don't bother to think too much.

If it bothers you, unfortunately Singapore got no return policy so if you have trade up options you might want to consider it.

I got my ring from JP a few days ago. The ring looks really nice and better under the room light than in the daylight.

I am going to propose in bali over the weekend. Think i will be doing it at night. ;)

Thank you all for your help once again.

I try to upload image but it is a bit of a hassle. Will post the link if JP puts it up.

Hi all,

Need your advise.
I have shortlisted three diamonds that I saw on Bluenile.
Am wondering which would give me more bang for my buck.

SI1
Ideal
E
S$1485

Diamond 2
HCA score is 1.5
GIA 5156337547

Diamond 3
HCA score is 1.8
GIA 2156236383

I wouldn't date to buy an SI1-SI2 clarity especially online... you won't know if it is eye clean.. If you have to choose out of the 3, I'll pick the 0.47 E VS2 to be the safest choice among them. Cut quality wise, can't commend without the scopes.

If you wanna talk about Bang for Buck, then just go for the biggest carrot and ignore the other specs. Its the most obvious to the eye and first thing that comes to people's mind when making comparisons.
