The readings are from the Solasfera. Not really data sheets. They sent me the 2 pics which i upload earlier along with the GIA and Solasfera cert.

Oops ! Very sorry, i thought you were asking about another round brilliant :p For solasfera I can only base on the scope images as mentioned by bedposthalo, as i do not know the exacts to a well cut Solasfera... could go hunt down and check the patent to see if it contains any specifics i guess, but abit lazy... hahaha.

To me the scope images look fine. Definitely ok for a Solasfera. Cheers

The reviews about Vivodiamonds not that good. Someone in the forum says they created bots to like their own FB page. Some even commented their after sales service is F-up. (Dont quote me #justsaying)

So i skip them and went to JP instead, so far no bad reviews on them yet. Went down last sunday, their service is pretty good. I made an appointment with them again later this afternoon.

Gonna eat grass soon ;)

Thanks kendrick272... Me gonna eat grass soon too .

Btw who served u? I haven't went to it there yet but I made an appointment.

He too strict la, what he means is that he won't choose it and it will not be H&A to him.*Hahaha. His defination is only based on his criteria and preference, and is not general to every one. i guess he forgot to mention that. Anyway, no worries, it IS within what most people consider H&A even if its outside bro limited's criteria. The rest will be down to scopes.

Sorry, not significantly, but visibly. The table is part of the reason. The other reason is that it IS physically bigger. One of the numbers you posted is the dimensions of the diamond and that includes the diameter and its 0.22mm bigger which should be visible

Yes its just visibly larger cause of the diameter and the table can also help the diamond look bigger.

Anyway just to clarify, if the dimensions are too off the H&A cuts tolerance, it may not necessarily turn out to be H&A. Cause ultimately the H&A is a resultant of a good symmetrical cut.

And kendrick272, you got a great stone there! definitely better than the Destinee Royale. More bling for the buck!:s13:

Definitely agree. Perhaps you could share with us what those tolerances are as well as the reasons for those number since even JP super ideal might not be H&A according to those tolerances. Hahaha

Also, as far as I know, once the numbers are in range H&A is mainly about optical symmetry which you can't really tell from cert numbers.

I came across this table when looking at the hearts and arrow's cut. Would be a decent gauge don't you think? =] Mostly, if not all, of JP's Super ideals I've seen fall within this table!

What you guys think about it?

Resize proposal ring

I went to JP today to re-size my proposal ring. I will need to wait for 7 days before it is re-sized. Oh well....

A tip, when you are hot, your finger tends to be bigger, and otherwise when your body temperature is cold. Make sure you keep this in mind when you are measuring the ring size.

Anyway, anyone has experience getting JP to re-size their ring? I gathered from the net if it is not done perfectly, it could result in the weakening of the ring (and other negative implications e.g. not perfect circle anymore, can see a break etc...). I am worried but i do not have a choice else it cannot be wore. What is the end result of your re-sizing? Please share. Thanks!

haha end result of resizing.. you can wear the ring! haha
It doesn't actually weaken the ring unless you're re sizing it beyond a few sizes. Then that will pose a problem for the ring. Otherwise its fine! I'm sure JP is well acquainted with ring resizes. Otherwise you can try other jewelers. And do make sure you get to see your GIA numbers on the diamonds too. Its known for people to swap the diamond out!

Get David, his service is awesome. We chatted close to 3hours today. He taught me alot on technical stuffs. He is willingly to share everything with you bit by bit.

Thanks man! I bought it today, afraid that it will be gone soon. No regrets :s12:

Bro no worries with the resizing. It will not affect anything at all and you can resize to a maximum of 4 size up or down. Any sizes above this +/- 4 will affect the ring itself.
And JP will do first 4 resizes for free. Thats what they told me.

From what i knows, technical data are just the basic. You need to see the scope to know more about the light leakage. Experts correct me on this. And it applies only to round cut not the modified cut.

Yeaa extremely important. I went to other places, they give me the scope to look at it using my naked eye. Its kinda hard to identify the numbers. But at JP, they put it under a device and the numbers are shown clearly. Damn this is good! My eyes wasnt strained.

Dont worry, im not pushing JP but i feel they are sincere. Thats why i just bought from them this evening :)

Thanks for the info. I've seen the site before, and the main problem here is that the information doesn't take into account GIA rounding. For example, based on this 35/41 is listed as do not work. For a simple example of how it cannot be directly applied to GIA certs, lets take whiteflash whose ACA, a super ideal cut, usually cut to 34.9/40.9 angles, occasionally even over as that is the look they are going for. If graded by GIA, this would be 35/41... if this could not be hearts and arrows, well over 50% of their ACA would not be hearts and arrows, a very very unlikely scenario. (actually I looked briefly and there is at least one stone in their ACA range with 35/41 ags readings and both the hearts and arrows look ok.)

And based on the site (not just the table but the content below), bro banbanz diamonds still all seem within H&A range... In addition, although GIA has rounding, JP visual inspection and selection process should have ensured that it was on the right side of the rounding. Which means the only thing left to look out for would be optical symmetry.

Yep, agree with both points ! Congrats on your ring and your good experience :)

Deciding between this 2.

Hello everyone, just managed to have some time to load this the following photos. I went to JP on wednesday & was served by David, it was a very informative session. Very professional of him I will say :)

I was given this two choices, feel free to give comments if any :)

The 1st one, 0.53ct G VS2.

Somehow, I noticed the middle part is not symmetrical, is it normal?

TY! But you know, my parents ain't very happy with my buying such an expensive stone with a small carat :( they say I waste money. Cannot understand what they thinking. Old folks theory is the bigger the better, the rest like color clarity doesn't matter, don't mentioned the tripple E. Sad to be trashed by them :(

Dun be sad la. I think its mainly a diff in generation and culture. Last time when I told my parents about the ring I got, they were also "OMG! So ex! Last time ah! When we got married I only got a gold ring! Blah blah blah! " lol!

If you look at the history of cutting, precision cut only available relatively recently. During their time, size might be what is important, as owning a diamond in itself was pretty rare already (esp in Asia). If you have diamond you big shot you got bigger diamond you bigger shot. Only when diamond becomes relatively more affordable, and many people has it then people can compare and "eh? My more shiny! " then cutting, color, clarity etc start to matter. But this is already among the younger generations.

Its not that they dun learn but this is probably what they thought and what they grew up with and what they know. Old habits die hard. To them based on their logic, it probably really doesn't make sense. I know of friends parents who still go to jewellers to get uncerted diamonds simply because it is cheaper of bigger. They happy can already. Overturning this kind of generational knowledge is not easy, if not downright impossible. so you gota try to understand a bit of where they are coming from.

Its like some people who wear thick gold chains. My chain thicker I bigger. He probably doesn't care that someone else's thin intricate gold chain was crafted by a blind child prodigy on a mountain top in the middle of winter and costs 10 times more then his because of the workmanship. You tell him that, he also say you siao. Different people value different things. He also cannot understand paying for the craftsmanship. To him have can already, have more even better. And the best part? He is not wrong. It is simply just different values.

They scold you should also be because they care ba. They are trying to help you based on what they know. Take the gold chain example again. You think that guy is going to get angry and trash you? He's probably going to laugh at you cos to him you just did an illogical thing and although he feel its harms you (in terms of lost value), you simply don't matter to him and to him its just a joke.

I get where you are coming from and i understand. I try to convince them but no to avail. So i ask them hey why not show me theirs. Damn it was J and I color! Then i understand why they say stone bigger then bigger and the rest dont matter. The supplier and cert dont matter too.

I guess you are right, different generations. These days people tend to go for the color and sparkles. Its a whole new world :s13:

But in the end, its what we value it. I shouldnt care about what others view about my stone. Most importantly, is how my partner and i feels.

Cheers! I feel much better this morning :)

No problem :)

There is no fixed definition and any one can define it as they like. There is however a set of numbers defined by the community as such and by default, most ideal cut diamonds should receive the highest rating of gia triple excellent or ags 000.

depth - 60 - 62%
table - 54- 57%
crown angle - 34- 35 degrees
pavilion angle - 40.6- 41 degrees
girdle - thin to slightly thick acceptable
Star and Lower Half : No Real Definition, 50/80 is deemed safest

If there is no ASET or Ideal scope, best you can do is HCA, Hearts and Arrows and the Cert itself :) Sticking to numbers like crown angle 34.5 and pavilion angle 40.8 is safest.

Is there any issue with table of 58%?

Food for thought about diamond table sizes..

Can see how the light ray adjust with different table sizes..

Paul Hung: A Diamond’s Table Size

Is there any issue with table of 58%?

Ideally, the smaller the table the better.. though I haven't compared it in person.

Small table:
+ fire
+ sparkle scintillation
+ patterned scintillation
- spread
- brightness

Large table:
+ spread
+ brightness
- fire
- sparkle scintillation
- patterned scintillation
*danger of fish eye effect

Yeaa i wanted to provide something special for my other half yet affordable within my limits.

Okay, now the next step would be how to propose! Damn i have to start brainstorming.
