Lovis diamonds are actually not bad. But I didnt like their service attitude. Was rhere during the new year and the salesgirl wasnt even interested in entertaining me. I had to keep asking her to show me the diamonds. The whole experience was very one sided. I went im for less than 5 mins and left.

I visited both westgate and mandarin gallery branches.. at westgate I encountered a salesgal whose attitude I didn't like.. but another salesguy at westgate was patient and showed us several diamonds explaining the difference between the 4Cs even thought I told him we were just there to learn.. and the salesguy that served me at mandarin gallery (where we bought the ring) was also quite nice.. :)

Not sure about their diamonds, but they sure do not have good reputation on this forum if you do a search.

I wonder if this has got to do with the diamond price increase.
Can see the diamond price chart here:

If you look at the graph, the 0-0.5cts increase by 15% from beginning 2013 to Jan 2014.[/I]
- correction. I read the chart wrongly. It's in % increase. This means it increase every month by about 2-8% each month and particularly a 15% increase in mid 2013. When you add all these accumulated % increases, the return even higher than buying property

Apparently, diamond prices will skyrocket in 2018.

Don't know how true is that though... but if it is, better start buying now :s13:

Do any bros here buy diamond for investment? If you look at the historical charts, diamond prices keep going up.

Recently, price for 0.30ct~0.69ct as well as 1ct in SI clarity has been increased according to the 2014/02/07 Paraport report.

My friend and me are planning to buy loose diamonds from manufacturers/cutters.
Not for investment purpose but for self use/collection.

I visited mandarin gallery boutique once.
The sales girl was kind and patient but didn't seem to have much knowledge about diamonds
She had to turn to her colleague (guy) for help when I asked questions.

So the guy colleague is more knowledgeable?

diamond-prices-per-carat.jpg

Diamonds below 1 ct is 15% median increase and looks like it is going to continue rising in a channel.
Any TA bros here to share input :)

Looking at the 3- 99 cts (disclaimer: not that I can afford one) it's a continuous whopping uptrend of 30-40%!!

JP is not the only one with the diamond price increase. it's increase worldwide everywhere. Bluenile prices shot up since last year.

Just went and confirmed by ring design with JP today. GOnna replace the side pear shape diamond with a pair of pear sapphires

Btw, JP does allow you to swap the diamond if you haven't confirm with them to start work on your ring making..meaning to say during customization phase still can change diamond.

Hi guys,

Need some advice on proposal rings. I walked past lee hwa the other day and happen to chance upon their forevermark series.

Looked around and saw this design of ring which i really like (in rose gold) and has the following specs:

0.54ct
F
SI1
Not very sure on the cut

Price quoted: approximately $5.2 after discount.

Any reviews on the forevermark series?

Are SI1 diamonds advisable?

Is the cutting of the forevermark diamond comparable to those in the market?

Lastly, understand forevermark diamonds not not have GIA certs. Are they reliable (considering that they are part of the de beers group)?

Thanks!

JP prices increase significantly already, thanks to all the forum ppl for the free marketing. Took my purchase else where.

Viewed the following at JP last month
0.52 G VS1 - price: $3,850
0.513 F VS1 - price: $3,950
0.47 E VS1 - price: $3,400
0.43 E VS1 $2,800
0.44 F VS2 $2,700

Some reference from older post and friend who bought few months ago
0.54 E VS2 $3850
0.53 G VS2 $3,500
0.53 E VS1 $3,650
0.42 D VS1 $2,950
0.41 F VVS1 $2,500

I was quoted $4,800 for a 0.62ct G VS2 and $7,600 for a 0.747ct G VVS2. I think the prices have definitely increased.

diamonds in general is not considered an investment, it fluctuates way too much too fast. It's considered more like "collection" items

say for example: When the arglye mine revealed they were close to depletion in 10 years, prices of pink diamonds shot up, all of sudden they found a new area in the mine to harvest, and prices went down.

one more thing to note is: if someone says diamond prices are going up, it's possible that a certain carat range remains the same price. In the case of the charts, everything looks "somewhat" stable but 0 - 0.5 took a huge leap :s12:

I think that's because of the D colour. Drop the colour and increase the carat!

I have asked. No discount.

maybe mandarin gallery better service standard cos in atas location.. and maybe gals more into visuals while guys more into technical specs.. :s13:

but I think there is no need to get too caught up with paying premium price for technical "perfections" when visually u can't see the difference..

D color not cheap.. drop to F color and can save a bit.. and also do look around other shops if they do not have one to fit your requirements n budget..

Did you try to compare D,E,F stones side by side? If so and can you visually see any difference? IMO, not necessary to go for D colour diamonds unless budget permits.:D
